2 Jaguar Journal DuJardin Elementary School MR. MARK J. DWYER Principal Bloomingdale School District 13 is committed to: Ensuring every child will learn; Treating everyone with honor and respect; Working together to achieve. MRS. STACY JOHNSTON Assistant Principal From the Principal PARCC testing is almost complete. The students in third through fifth grades are working extremely hard and putting in a tremendous effort during this testing period, which is much appreciated. Much gratitude goes out to the DuJardin staff for preparing the students for these assessments. PARCC testing will wrap up Monday afternoon followed by makeup testing the rest of next week. DuJardin s Student Council will be planting a White Swamp Oak tree near the playground in honor of Arbor Day, which will take place on Friday, April 29 th at 1:30. The public is welcome to come out and join the student council members for this short celebration event. MAP testing will take place at all grade levels between April 25 th through May 5 th. The results will be available once the testing window closes on May 5 th. These results along with other information will help in the process of placing students in homerooms for next year. Student results from MAP testing will be sent home to parents in the 3 rd trimester report card on May 31 st. We hope to see you at the Spring Chorus performance, Home on the Range, this evening at 7:00 p.m. in the gym. The 2 nd and 3 rd grade chorus members have been working very hard since February rehearsing for this production. Thank you also to Mrs. Burritt and Mrs. Lents for organizing yesterday morning s Fruit with Family. Everyone seemed to have such a great time together. Please see pictures on the following pages.

Wednesday, April 27 th 7:00 p.m. - 5 th Grade Beginner Band concert at Westfield School Friday, May 8 Teacher Work Day No School Monday, May 9 th 7:00 p.m. 5 th grade students and parents will visit Westfield for Transition Night. 6 Date Extended I hope all parents are planning to attend Portfolio Night on Thursday, May 12th from 6:45-8:15 p.m. Our teachers and students look forward to this special event during which students share samples of their work from the school year with their parents. Our 5th Graders will be running their annual Portfolio Night Fundraising Bake Sale! Plan on purchasing some treats to take home!! DuJardin Yearbooks Order Online This Year! Yearbook online ordering information is attached to the journal today. The cost is $19.16 per book - don t wait! The due date has been extended to Monday, April 18th. Order today! Don t be left behind! Don t Wait - Order today! Bloomingdale Education Foundation Ordering Procedure for School supplies for the school year will be ordered online and shipped directly to your home! Informational sheets with instructions will be sent home with your children soon. Online ordering will be st available on May 1. 7 School Improvement Day Wed., April 20 1:40 Dismissal Westfield Middle School will be holding an Open House on Monday, May 9 th at 7:00 p.m. for incoming fifth graders and their parents. Please join Westfield s Principal, Assistant Principal, Guidance Counselor, P.E. and Drama/Speech teachers, and Student- Teacher-Parent (STP) Organization President for an introduction to and tour of Westfield. In addition, you ll get information about P.E. at Westfield, and will have the opportunity to buy books at the book fair and to purchase Westfield Spirit Wear. We hope to see you there! Breakfast with Teachers Teacher Appreciation Week begins with a Breakfast with Teachers on Monday, May 2 nd. Our PTO will provide all of the children and teachers with a breakfast together. Kindergarten (both morning and afternoon sessions) will enjoy a special treat of a snack and chocolate milk at snack time. Any parents interested in helping out that morning from 8:30-10:00 a.m., please contact Jennifer Kazan at Many other special events will happen during the week provided First by our Grade PTO to show our appreciation to our teachers. Long term, the community cannot rely solely on traditional funding to ensure quality public education; private, supplemental support is required.
