2 Sargent School District RE-33J Meeting of February 27, 2017 BOARD HIGHLIGHTS David Steinert, President Eric Pfannenstiel, Vice President David Bower, Treasurer Gina Mitchell, Secretary Heather Paulson, Member School Calendar Approved The Board approved the calendar for the upcoming school year. Approval will begin the 3- year pilot of a 4-day per week schedule, as approved at the January meeting. The first day of classes will be August 16 th, and last day May 24 th. Holiday breaks are similar to the current calendar, and teacher in-service and parent/teacher conferences will take place on Fridays. The district will now submit an Application to the Colorado Department of Education for a four day school week. FY 16 District Audit Presented and Approved The FY 2016 District Audit was completed by Wall, Smith, Bateman Inc. The audit report provided an unmodified opinion, with no material concerns noted. It was reported the audit process went smoothly, and Business Manager, Rebecca Quintana was commended for her work. Employment The employment of Substitute Teacher, Patricia Suttle was approved along with Extra Duty Pay Agreements for Coaches Trent VanBibber, Lisa Robirds, James Holmes and Randi Asbell. Board Policy Revisions Revised policies reviewed for first reading included GBGG, Staff Leave and GDBA-E 2 and 3, Support Staff Salary Schedule (revised according to new minimum wage requirements). Other Items The board also approved minutes of the previous meeting and financial reports for January, along with two requisitions, to ASU for concurrent enrollment and WSB for the district audit. Discussion Items The board discussed considerations of reestablishing a wrestling program at the high school, and methods of measuring the success of the 4-day week pilot program. Discussion will continue on these items next month. Next Meeting: The next regular meeting of the board will be on Monday, March 27th at 7:00 p.m. in the high school library.
