3 Prep School Hobbies Please indicate which hobby you would like your child to participate in by ticking the appropriate box on the Booking Form. Costs quoted in the brochure are based on a 15:40/16:50 finish and are shown with and without ASCAPS (After School Care Advance Payment Scheme). Hobbies will commence on Monday 7 January 2019 and finish on Thursday 28 March 2019 with exceptions where stated. For termly hobbies your child will be expected to commit to the hobby for the whole term. If your child does not attend a hobby for any reason or chooses to cancel the hobby part way through the term NO refund will be given in respect of any missed sessions. Please be advised that hobbies will only run if there are sufficient numbers. Please find the booking form on inside front cover. Please return this form to the School Office, or alternatively the form (remembering to state which class/form your child is in) to hobbies@taverhamhall.co.uk no later than Friday 14 December 2018 Bookings received after this date CANNOT secure a place for week commencing 7 January 2019 or the remainder of the term. 4 Monday After School Club Y3 & Y4 After School Club offers a range of activities including supervised outdoor play and can be booked on a regular or adhoc basis during the term by contacting the School Office. Junior Warhammer Club with Mr Sayer and Mr Wood Y3 & Y4 Warhammer is the world s leading table top game. Players battle using miniature models and practise their Maths skills by adding up dice rolls. We will focus on Warhammer 40,000 which sees different armies fight against each other for control of the galaxy. In the club, pupils will assemble, paint and play with the models. There will also be opportunities to create and paint scenery for use in the battles. Maximum number: 12 Cost: 80 per term (11 weeks) or 11 with ASCAPS Junior Crafty Afty Club with Potty Potter from The Clay Barn Pottery Y3 & Y4 Come along and experience lots of exciting crafts including decorating some fabulous pottery pieces to take home. You ll be able to enjoy a New Year s celebration before half term and an Easter celebration at the end of term. Cost: 116 per term (11 weeks) or 46 with ASCAPS Drama Production Rehearsals (CAST ONLY) with Mrs Beedell, Mrs Howe and Miss Briggs Y6 to Y8 Rehearsal schedule to follow. Please note the later finish time of 18:30 Senior Boys Cricket Nets with Mr Findlay Y7 & 8 For children in Year 7&8 who want to develop and improve their cricket skills during the winter months, in preparation for the summer term and cricket season. This will be hard ball training and we aim to have lots of fun whilst honing our cricket skills. Cost: 6.30 per session or no charge with ASCAPS RetroPi Gaming with Mr Harris and Mr Wilkinson Y5-8 Pupils will learn how to turn a Raspberry Pi into a fully operational retro games arcade machine. Play some good old classic Retro Games from SNES, Atari, Sega and lots more. Maximum number: 6 Cost: 70 per term or no charge with ASCAPS

5 Tuesday Junior Lego Club with Mrs Howe Y3 & Y4 Release your inner builder and use plastic bricks in a variety of colours and sizes to assemble and create models of almost anything imaginable. Did you know LEGO bricks are available in 53 different colours. 19 billion LEGO elements are produced every year million LEGO elements are moulded every hour, or 36,000 per minute. More than 400 billion LEGO bricks have been produced since Maximum number: 15 Make It! With Mrs Bowles Y3 & Y4 Come and join Mrs Bowles in using a variety of art and craft mediums to create a unique piece of art. Maximum number: 10 Cost: 6.30 per session or no charge with ASCAPS Table Tennis with Mr George Luong Y3 & Y4 and Y5 to Y8 Learn correct technique, the tactics and practise playing against opponents, George and even the ball machine. Maximum number: 12 Cost: 103 per term (11 weeks) or 33 with ASCAPS Girls Cricket with Mrs Hood & Miss Williams Y3 & Y4 and Y5 to Y8 Maximum number: 20 Come and enjoy some pre-season cricket training to develop your fundamental skills of fielding, batting and bowling and prepare for the cricket season ahead. Cost: 103 per term (11 weeks) or 33 with ASCAPS. Keep Dancing! Ballroom and Latin Dancing with Ms Reeves Y3 & Y4 and Y5 to Y8 Minimum number: 4 Maximum number: 16 Not only will your posture, grace, flexibility and range of motion improve but so will your ability to feel the music and apply your dance moves to it in a rhythmic way. Although the sessions will focus on dancing they will also incorporate lots of fun team building and confidence boosting activities. Cost: 147 per term (11 weeks) or 77 with ASCAPS

6 Tuesday The Magic Square with Mr Stubbs Y5 to Y8 Maximum number: 14 Where Langley Prep meets Hogwarts! Come and learn some amazing magic tricks and develop your confidence and performing skills with a member of The Magic Circle, the world-famous society of magicians. Whether you are already an accomplished magician or a complete beginner, you ll have a lot of fun learning how to perform wonders for your friends! Cost: 80 per term (11 weeks) or 11 with ASCAPS Wednesday After School Club Y3 & Y4 After School Club offers a range of activities including supervised outdoor play and can be booked on a regular or adhoc basis during the term by contacting the School Office. Junior Tapestry with Mrs Wynne Y3 & Y4 Maximum number: 8 Tapestry club is a chance for children to try their hand at sewing and designing small tapestries. All materials will be provided. Open to boys and girls. Cost: 80 per term (11 weeks) or 11 with ASCAPS Thursday Hama Bead Hobby with Mrs Rust Y3 & Y4 Create designs and patterns from Hama Beads - choose your particular design or use your own imagination! Select a pegboard and choice of coloured beads and away you go! It s as simple as that.

7 Thursday Tennis with Mr Stocker Y3 & Y4 and Y5 to Y8 From novice to experienced player the tennis coaching team will help develop your child s tennis skills, serving and match play. Maximum number: 12 Cost: 114 per term (11 weeks) or 44 with ASCAPS. Football with Community Sports Foundation Y3 & Y4 and Y5 to Y8 For football enthusiasts, this hobby aims to develop football skills and game play in a range of competitive and skills-based sessions. Run by external qualified coaches. Minimum number: 12 Maximum number: 18 Cost: 114 per term (11 weeks) or 44 with ASCAPS. Senior Art with Mr Edwards Y5 to Y8 An opportunity to develop independent art projects or create portfolio work for post Year 8. Maximum number: 12 Cost: 6.30 per session or no charge with ASCAPS Goblin Go Karts with Mr Forsey & Mr Sowry Y4 to Y6 Maximum number: 8 with priority given to children in Y6 How would you like to be part of a team building a Go-Kart you can actually get into and drive?! The Greenpower Goblin Club, in its third year, offers pupils in Year 4 to 6, an opportunity to restore and build our 200W buggies. The intention is to race the buggies at events held locally and nationally against other schools over the next two terms. Please note the later finish time of 18:00 Cost: 103 per term (11 weeks) or 33 with ASCAPS. (Please note Y4 children will either need to be collected from School at 15:45 and returned at 16:50 when this hobby starts OR be booked in for an additional Junior hobby which will incur an additional late stay charge) Note for Parents: The team needs to buy parts and accessories to make the kart safe and legal to race, along with parts that are made in the DT Department. Sponsorship of the Goblin team at LPTH is already underway and we look forward to hearing from anyone who would like to help the team out with raising funds for the project, in return for promotion of the sponsor on the car itself.
