Both past Principals, Mr Courtney and Mr Fairclough and some past students and staff came along and enjoyed the festivities. We are extremely proud of our school, it s achievements and relatively short history but it s packed with lots of stories. Well worth highlighting again is that Reverend Henry Fulton is such an important part of the history of our local area and it is so special to have direct descendants Kyle D and Vaughan D attending out school today. Mr Courtney sent a lovely thank you letter the next day and I have placed it later on in this newsletter as it expresses the sentiments of many of our visitors. The cake and snacks stall raised over $ for the Year 6 Farewell. Thanks go to our Year 5 and 6 families and the P&C. It s not too late to buy a commemorative T-Towel which is on sale for $10.00 and our 20th Year Commemorative Booklet is also for sale for $2.00 through the front office. World Greatest Shave Come along on Friday to see Travis from 5/6 and Ryan from 6D World s Greatest Shave. This starts at 1.40pm in the hall. This will be a fundraising event for The Leukaemia Foundation World s Greatest Shave. In support we are asking for a gold coin donation on the day and students can have a Crazy Hair Day. Any and all extra donations from families will be gratefully accepted. New school website The new school website is now live, up and running. I m very excited about bringing you this new fresh look. Soon it will be packed with information, dates and pictures. It is easier for us to manage than the last one and is supported by Department of Education. Go to and take a look. Harmony Day This year our school is very excited to celebrate Harmony Day on Tuesday 21 st This is an annual nation-wide event exploring, discovering and celebrating the rich fabric of cultures we have in our country. This year s theme is Everyone Belongs. Our school will be celebrating within their classrooms by completing some activities and students are asked to wear something orange on that day. Please note, this is not a mufti-day and students should still wear their uniform to school. Some ideas are: * orange shirt * orange ribbon *orange clip in hair * orange socks * orange shoelaces and so on. We are looking forward to seeing all the varieties of orange that our students can think of wearing and celebrate Harmony Day together. 2 Page 2 Sporting News We will be holding our Swimming Carnival Ribbon Assembly on Monday afternoon 20 th March commencing at 1.40pm in the school hall. At this assembly we will congratulate and award ribbons to the place getters form our School Swimming Carnival earlier in the term. Parent Teacher Interviews On Tuesday 28 th March classroom teachers will be providing parents with the opportunity to discuss their child s general progress. Teachers will be available to give a short 10 minute interview at a given time after school and into the evening. During this interview there will be time to review progress and discuss general areas of concern. Should there be a number of things that require discussion it is recommended that you see the teacher for this purpose at a later date. Please keep the date free and look forward to more information in the coming days. Easter Celebrations I can t wait for the Easter Hat Parade. It will be held on Thursday 6th April at 9.30 for our K-2 students. We love to see pre-schoolers and toddlers joining in, too and hope to see lots of parents enjoy the parade. All students are expected to participate in the fun and I hope to see some fantastic hats on the day. Our P&C are drawing their magnificent raffle at 1.40pm in the hall and we are looking forward to seeing lots of donations that will become the prizes for the raffle brought into the school office. See you around school. G Palamara PRINCIPAL Money Matters Please ensure that school payments are made to the front office before 3pm each day. All payments MUST be handed in with permission notes, including payments made using our POP facility. Voluntary Contributions remain the same as previous years. This contribution significantly boosts the school ability to purchase classroom stationary items, dictionaries, maths equipment and literacy resources. We are committed to using these funds to directly benefit students in the classrooms and urge all parents to see the value in making their payment. The contribution is $45 for the first child in the family, $25 for the second child, and $15 for the third child. Any subsequent children are no additional cost. This can be paid at the front office throughout the term. 3 Page 3 Premiers Reading Challenge The Premiers Reading Challenge (PRC) is now under way. It opened on Monday 6th March and runs until Friday 25th August. The PRC is not a competition, but instead aims to create an interest in reading within students. The challenge exposes students to quality literature and hopefully lays the foundation for life long reading. The link below gives students, parents and carers all the information they need in relation to the PRC. students will be completing their challenge at school during library and classroom time. *Students in years 3-6 are expected to choose their own books and keep a record of books read by either using the personal reading log provided by the librarian, or logging into the PRC website. Yours in reading, Mrs Bedingfield (Relieving Librarian) Library Helpers Needed un- The Library has purchased some lovely new books; however, we can't get these books on the shelves til they are covered. If you have some spare time and are able to assist with covering a couple of books, please see Mrs Bedingfield in the library. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

A reminder that all money is to be deposited into the money chute located in the foyer. Please ensure all deposits are clearly marked. P&C Meetings are usually held on the 2nd Tuesday of the month. The next meeting is on Tuesday 09/05/17 at 2pm in the staff room. All welcome. P&C News Hi Everyone, It was so wonderful to see the school community out and about to help celebrate Henry Fulton turning 20! We had fun helping the Year 6 kids with their food and drink stall, watching them sell up a storm and run a very successful event for themselves. Over $600 was raised for their end of year formal we were very impressed with their work ethic and commitment to their cause. Thank you everyone who donated plates of food and to everyone who came by the stall and supported the kids. Next up is our Easter Raffle, the note went home last week. You need to do these things in this order 1) Donate Easter Eggs 2) Sell Raffle Tickets 3) Help us wrap the prizes and 4) Cross Your Fingers at the Raffle Assembly! You can get more raffle books from the front office if you need them (of course you will, right?) and you can leave your yummy donations there as well. Let s break some records this year and give away an EPIC number of Easter treats!
