1 Dear Alumni/ae, Greetings! We sincerely thank and appreciate your gracious presence and marvellous cooperation in making the Alumni Day a great success. We have enclosed the report of this Alumni Day 2014 as well as the photographs. I PREPARATION: ALUMNI DAY REPORT 2 nd OCTOBER 2014 The Executive Committee of Loyola College Alumni Association constituted an organizing committee consisting of the following members: Mr. S. Maria Antony Irudhaya Raj - Convener, Mr.J.Balamurugan, Maj. Porres ASM, Mr.M.A.Jacob, Mr. P. Naresh Kumar, Mr. M. Ezhi, Mr. A. Raj Kumar, Mr. A. Karunamurthy, Mr. S.D.Bose, Mr. C.K. Unni Krishnan. The Champion of batches were added to the organizing committee. They met on the following dates to discuss, 3 rd, 5 th, 17 th, 30 th July / 4 th, 7 th, 13 th, 16 th, 23 rd, 27 th, 30 th August / 3 rd, 6 th, 10 th, 13 th, 17 th, 20 th, 24 th, 27 th, 30 th September and 1 st October Introduced the concept of Alumni carnival. Dr. G. Viswanathan President of Loyola Alumni Association attended one of the meetings on 30 th September. The entire plan was presented before the Executive Committee on 13 th September and suggestions of the committee were incorporated and approved.

2 IICELEBRATION N: Part I _ Venue Bertram Hall We had 804 Registrations, Direct registration - 472, Online Registration and Spot Registration On 2 nd October 2014 the spot registration started at 9.00 a.m. under the leadership of Mr.M.Ezhil, The Programme began with a formal meeting in Bertram Hall at a.m. Nearly 700 alumni were present. The Chief Guest was Ms. Beno Zephene I.A.S, Visually challenged. She finished her M.A.English at Loyola College. She spoke with conviction and described the contribution which the college had made in her life and Mr. Jaisankar, Director General of Investigation, Income Tax in charge of TamilNadu and Pondicherry, felicitated the gathering and remembered his time in Loyola from 1971 to 1976 as a student of Economics. Dr. Fr. Xavier Alphonse.S.J., Director of Loyola Alumni Association welcomed the gathering and recognized the different batches from 1948 to 2014 year - wise. He requested the alumni, their cooperation for the development of Loyola College, towards quality and excellence. Dr. Fr. Joseph Antony Samy..S.J., Principal expressed his overwhelming joy in welcoming them and requested their support for the improvement of the college.

3 Dr. Fr. Albert William.S.J., Secretary and Correspondent felicitated the gathering. Dr. G. Viswanathan, presented an appeal to the alumni to come in large numbers for the alumni day next year, which coincides with the 90 th year of the college on the 2 nd of October, He expressed his desire that Loyola Alumni Association should become the best in the country and we should follow the example of foreign universities like Harvard, Oxford etc. He appreciated the good work of the organizing committee to make the day a memorable one. The oldest member belonging 1948 to 1952 batch Mr. T.A. Ramasubramanian came on the stage and expressed the feelings of gratitude to his Alma Mater. He recalled the old days at Loyola without women students. Dr. Francis Jose, Loyola Executive Committee Member proposed the vote of thanks. Mr. C.K.Unni Krishnan, Loyola Executive Committee Member was the master of ceremonies. Maj. Porres. ASM, Loyola Executive Committee Member conducted the entire formal meetings. (The formal meetings lasted for one and half hours and ended at 11.30a.m.)

4 Part II _ Venue Quadrangle We had food court and games for children and food stalls served a variety of delicious dishes both vegetarian and non-vegetarian. The alumni enjoyed the festive atmosphere. The programme had a variety of dances and songs done by the Alumni and current students of Loyola. All the invitees are enjoyed the show. This part this formed the entertainment aspect of the programme. (The cultural programme lasted for two hours and ended at 2.30p.m.)

Welcome kit Committeee Mr. T.Kumar - Loyola Alumni Association Executive Committee Member Mr. Karthikeyan, Mr. Saran Subramanian, Mr. N.Shivaji Siddarth, Mr. Kavin Kumar and Loyola Alumni Association staff and NSS Volunteers. In the presence of the Dr.Fr.Xavier Alphonse.S.J., Director of Loyola Alumni Association and organizing committee, the lot was taken for the T.V. given by Viveks and the lucky winner was Mr. S. Christoraj - B.Com 1961 to 1966 won the T.V. which was given by drawing lots. Congratulations!

7 IV REVIEW ON 7 TH OCOTBER 2014 i. Appreciation 1. New concept of carnival atmosphere was appreciated. 2. Open invitations for all the alumni including their families and friends. 3. Introduction of food court system to have choice of food. 4. Preference for invitees like the Retired Professors, Officials of the college, and Former Alumni Association Directors and other Loyola Fathers. ii. Suggestions 1. Merge both the venue for the formal meeting and the carnival programme. 2. Need police help for security. 3. Need more coordination. 4. Need more planning strategy to bring more Alumni. 5. The cultural programme needs a pre-view. Our sincere thanks to Rev. Fr. A.M. Jayapathy Francis, S.J. - Rector for his inspiring message, Rev. Dr. G.
