Site Visit Report
Site Visit report 14 Site visit conducted by Prof. Atul Joshi, Coordinator N.S.S., Kumaon University, Nainital and Dr. Suresh Dalakoti, Ex Member of Executive Council, Kumaon University, Nainital, Uttarakhand Visit dates: th Feb Visit conducted during the National Science Day event undertaken by Asha Savidya Visit report uploaded at: Site Visitor Dr Atul Joshi being honored by Chief Guest Dr Barakoti Director Higher Education and Dr B S Bisht
Site Visit Report 15 Key findings: All the children were attending school in their uniforms provided by Savidya. To ensure health and sanitation each child has been given tooth brush and tooth paste. Sports materials and musical instruments have also been made available to the children. Computers have also been provided in the schools and the children have received introductory information to computers. The schools also have a small library that has different types of books and Audio, Video C.D. and D.V.D. for the children and teachers. Most of the books, C.D. and D.V.D. were donated by the volunteers, ASHA Foundation and other N.G.Os. Student s enrollment in most of the adopted schools is declining in subsequent years.
Site Visit Report: Gaps Seen 16 Children are not getting the required attention from Govt Teachers due to ratio between students and teachers are not well balanced. The biggest question posing Savidya is the future of the teachers, who are employed at a meager salary of Rs 3500 to 4,500, when compared to a government teacher in the same school who is paid a salary of Rs 25,000. Savidya does not have enough funds for increasing the base salary of the teachers or for offering them any additional incentive for delivering outstanding results. Stock register was not properly maintained in regard of price of accessories, issue, and damages at school level.( Corrected as per Site Visitors advice) Records of uniform, bags, medicine and other facilities provided to students are not properly maintained at school level.( Corrected now) The books are not arranged with accordance to accession register in library.(best method to get access maintained)
Site Visit: Impact of Asha s project as observed by Dr. Atul Joshi 17 Community showing positive intention towards committee efforts for all round development of their child. Because of the better education and achieving good examination results by these schools, the local people are beginning to believe in government schools again. 7 students from Govt. School Kulethi complex (6 from Kulethi and another from our village Darah) succeeded in getting accepted to R. N. Vidyalaya. (where they will receive free board and lodge and first class education till class 12th) The news was published in Champawat Edition of Amar Ujala. (The total intake of R.N. Vidyalaya was 60 students; only other school to follow this feat was a Saraswati Shishu Mandir Pvt. School (5 students) No Govt school is near that record.)
