Introduction GENERAL INFORMATION The scheme to establish Sainik Schools was introduced in 1961 by Ministry of Defence, Govt. of India in association with State Govt under the aegis of Sainik Schools Society. Sainik School Chittorgarh (Raj) started wef 07 August 1961 providing residential, military based, CBSE education to the youths of the state of Rajasthan and other states. This is more popularly known as a feeder institution to the prestigious National Defence Academy. The school is affiliated to CBSE and follows Science stream upto Senior Secondary level being a feeder institution to NDA, Khadakwasla, Pune. Aims and Objectives The primary aim of Sainik School Chittorgarh (Raj) is to prepare students academically, physically and mentally for entry into National Defence Academy. The other objectives are :- To remove regional imbalance in the officer cadre of the defence services. 5 2 Local Board of Administration : The administration of the School is vested with the Local Board of Administration or LBA. The GOC-in-C South Western Command is the Chairman of the LBA. National Cadet Corps (NCC) : All cadets from classes VII to X become cadets of the NCC irrespective of their age. The cadets attend Annual Training Camps and Special Summer Camps for rock climbing, advanced leadership and adventure courses, NIC whenever organised under the aegis of NCC Directorate. Physical Training, Games and Sports : All cadets are required to take part in compulsory physical training activities organized in the school under supervision of qualified instructors posted from Army Physical Training Corps. Morning PT and evening games are conducted every day. The school has adequate number of play grounds and provides unlimited facilities for games and sports. Inter-House competition at sub-junior, junior and senior levels are conducted in various games like Cross Country, Foot Ball, Hockey, Cricket, Basketball, Volleyball, Table Tennis, Squash, Tennis and Badminton. Cadets are also encouraged to take part in Inter Sainik Schools and Inter-Public School tournaments. Selected cadets take part in State and National level competitions. School Auditorium : The school has an air conditioned auditorium named as Shankar Memon Auditorium with a seating capacity of more than 500 cadets. Visit by Parents/Guardians : Parents/Guardians of the Cadets are permitted to visit on Parent Teacher Meeting/Parent Visits Day (i.e.) only on Second Saturday of every month from 0900 h to 1300 h. 8 1. House System 5 Administrative Aspects Being a fully residential public school, the Cadets of VI to XII are accommodated in ten Houses. Most of these are named after gallant warriors viz Sanga, Kumbha, Hamir, Badal, Ashok-I & II, Jaimal, Pratap, Kush and Luv. The cadets are looked after by respective House Masters, Associated Staff and Hostel Superintendents. SPACS (Students Parents Automated Communication System) has been installed in each house to facilitate cadets to speak to their parents/guardians when they want. Cadets Mess : The Cadets Mess run by school has all modern kitchen appliances and a spacious dining hall which provides facility to all cadets to dine-in together alongwith the members of the staff. The staff helps the cadets in learning mess etiquettes and table manners. The school provides both vegetarian and non vegetarian meals as per laid down menu prepared with due care to provide balanced and nutritious diet to the cadets. The Cadets Mess is managed by a mess committee which also has cadets representatives. Medical Assistance The school has full time trained Compounder posted in the school infirmary. Parents are informed immediately in case of serious sickness as per advice of Compounder. However, no information is given in case of minor sickness. Cadets are also referred to Govt. Hospital in case specialist opinion and treatment is required. Expenditure incurred on medicines is charged from pocket money of cadets. Details of all expenditure on medicines is maintained by the school.
