St. Nicholas was a Christian Bishop that was well known for helping the needy. It was a busy day after morning prayer that began with our Geography Bee for 5th-8th grade students. Our first round had twenty-four participants. After the first half and a tie breaker round; our ten remaining participants will come together in January for the second half of the Geography Bee competition. All students in our TK-8th grades gathered for our Christmas program rehearsal.

2 2 Shamrock Newsletter Our faculty and staff look forward to welcoming your families next Thursday, December 13th at 7PM in the Church for our annual Christmas program. Students will need to be dropped off at their classrooms at 6:30PM. After the program TK-4th grade students are to be picked up from their teachers in the pews. 5th-8th grade students are to be picked up at their classrooms. A few volunteers will be needed to take down the risers afterwards. If you are available to help with this, please let the office know. Lastly, our 6th-8th grade students were acknowledged for their academic achievements at an honor roll assembly in the afternoon. The Principal's Highest honors were awarded to students who earned excellence in conduct and effort. Congratulations to all of our students for working so hard during the first trimester. Blessings, Mrs. Olivia Brazil SCHOOL NEWS 2019 St. Apollinaris School and Parish Crab Feed January 26, :30-10:00 PM Tickets on sale now in the school office and Parish office All you can eat crab, pasta and salad. Wine and beer included. Tickets: $65 per person (on or before Friday, January 11, 2019) $75 per person (after Friday, January 11, 2019) Instant Wine Cellar Tickets for sale $25 each or 5 for $100 Need not be present to win. Attached is our January Hot lunch menu. As we continue with our school lunch program, we continue to learn what we need to change to make this a great program for all of our students. After a few months of having Suppertime and as we move towards the rainy season we found the need to have an onsite lunch coordinator as a high priority for our school. Our current lunch program with Suppertime has been amazing and we sincerely thank them enough

3 3 Shamrock Newsletter for everything they have done for our school. Starting in January we will begin a similar program, Chameleon Catering that will ensure the school always has a lunch coordinator onsite daily. In addition all lunches will be given to the students in a lunch box with water and utensils as needed. There will be no change to the price or our ordering process. In addition, for the upper classes only (5 th -8 th grade), during the 12:50 lunch recess there will be additional snacks for sale ranging in price from $0.50 to $1.00. The types of items offered will be additional water, chips, cookies, fruit, etc. Thank you for all your understanding as we learn how to provide the best lunch program for our school. The Final Round of the National Geographic Geography Bee will be held Thursday, January 17, 2019, at 8:30am in the Hall. The ten finalists are: Ryan Reber, Natalie Carr, Blake Wilsey, Zack Grizzle, Francis Mulligan, Gabrielle George, Mia Andrilla, Austin Sidhu, Kayla Chamberland, and Luke Pyrce. Congratulations to the finalists and a big thank you to Mr. Mulford, Mrs. Loeffelholz, the St. Apollinaris office and extended care staff and to all the parents that assisted with the event. A HUGE thank you to the Moye family for their hard work and effort putting together the St. A s float for the Napa Christmas Parade. They proudly represented St. A s and we are grateful for their dedication to our school community.

Athletic News The 5 th /6 th grade girls had a tough loss this past weekend against a good St. Rose team. The girls battled on both sides of the ball and played with heart until the final buzzer. The 5 th grade boys had another win this past weekend, with strong defense the star of the show. The boys displayed great communication and teamwork and we look forward to seeing how they fare in the NB CSL Tournament next week. But first the boys will try to preserve their one-loss season this weekend as they take on St. Eugene s. The 6 th grade boys played a great team from St. John s Healdsburg this past weekend. St A s was shorthanded with only 5 boys there for most of the game. Even though those 5 boys fought hard, they ended up losing in the end. Defense was our greatest strength in the game with the boys boxing out and rebounding. They played their hearts out until the very end. Great job St A s. We will get them next time! Come out and cheer our teams on at the last regular season games this Saturday.
