The Annual Quality Assurance Report (AQAR) of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) Name of the Institution: Year of the Report NTSS, Shri Shankar Arts & Commerce College, Navalgund. Part A : The plan of action chalked out by the IQAC of the college in the beginning of the year towards quality enhancement include Introduction of Short term Skill based courses like Computer Application, Spoken English & Communication Skill, Marketing & Salesmanship etc. and Training of the Students for Service Sector Employment. Introduction of Audio Visuals and Computer Aided Teaching Techniques, Conducting of Remedial Classes for Slow and Disadvantaged Learners. Encouraging Teachers to undertake Research Projects and to publish Articles in Professional Journals. Computerisation of the Library Catalogue and Introduction of Open Access System to Final Year Students. Fencing of the College Campus, Starting of the Multi Gym Unit, Construction of Gymkhana Hall, Construction of Ladies Hostel, Conducting of Special Training and Coaching Camps for College Sportsmen. Division of Curricular Non-Curricular work among all Staff Members to achieve good results in Total Quality Management. Construction of Water Tanks and Water Ponds to store rainwater for Afforestation of the College Campus.

2 Part B: 1. Our Institution has continued its programme of providing higher education to Rural Youth with poor family background at affordable cost. Rural Womenfolk have been given due preference in enrolment of students. Computer Education and Training has been given to students of both Commerce and Arts Faculties. Short term Spoken English Course has been started to develop the Communication Skill of students. A 10-Days Personality Development Camp by TPN Laxman Joshi, a mind trainer of International Repute was conducted. One-Day Workshop on Career Opportunities in Management, by Dr.V.M.Toravi and Prof. Basavaraj Vasanad was arranged. Symposium on Present Education System, was conducted Prof. B.B.Mashal of J.G.College of Commerce was the keynote speaker. One-Day Employment Information and Guidance Programme by Karnataka University Employment Information and Guidance Bureau conducted. One-Day Workshop on Employment Opportunities in Insurance and Banking Sector was conducted Shri Ravindra Panth LIC Development Officer and Shri Mahesh Kulakarni Manager, Syndicate Bank were keynote speakers. 2. New subject entitled Indian Constitution has been introduced for B.A. & B.Com. Courses. 3. No 4. Combined Students Union, Sports, NCC & NSS activities have been conducted. 5. Examination work has been computerised. Examination results have been intimated to the Parents regularly. Computerisation of Administration is under progress. The process of Admission, Examination Results and Issue of Certificates are computerised. Two more new computers are purchased for the said work. 26. Fencing of College Campus, Installation of Multi-Gym, College Approach Road Widened, Metalled and Asphalted, Water Tank and Water Ponds constructed for Rain Water Harvesting and Seating arrangement for students in the college campus. 27. Our college has its own well equipped Computer Laboratory. Technology in Administration has been upgraded. The Internet facility established. We have developed customised and user friendly software for office use along with accounting software. The said software system study is included in the curriculum of B.Com. Course. 28. Provided Pocket money to Sportspersons, Free Diet during coaching period and T.A. & D.A. to sportspersons for participating in intercollegiate tournaments. 35. Mr Rakesh Savadatti Sr. U/O participated in Republic Day Parade at New Delhi and enmarked as Right Marker of Karnataka & Goa NCC R.D. Contingent. Miss Suman Kulkarni has won (a) First Prize in Rangoli Competition in Karnataka University Youth Festival (b) First Prize in Rangoli Competition in Inter University Youth Festival (South Zone) held at Vizagapattanm. Registration of 22 students in District Employment Center on 21/07/2004. Distribution of Employment Cards to 12 students on 31/08/2004. Competitive Books & Journals supplied to the students preparing for competitive examinations, Training also has been given to students. 37. Career Guidance & Employment Cell has been setup. Arrangement has been made to get the names of students of our college registered in Employment Exchange Office. 38. Provided Computer Training to Non-Teaching Staff. 39. Students celebrated Teachers Day, Teachers honoured and felicitated by the students. Organised Welcome party to Part-I students, Send-off party to Part-III students.
