8 Annual Report VIII th Annual Day 22 Oct 2011 It is my privilege and a pleasant duty to extend a very cordial and warm welcome to Lt General Anand Mohan Verma, AVSM, SM, VSM, Director, Military Operation, Army Headquarters, New Delhi, distinguish guests on the auspicious occasion of VIII th Annual Day celebration of this prestigious institution of the state of Bihar and country as well. Establishment of Sainik Schools conceptualized with the primary aim of preparing boys academically, physically and mentally for entry into National Defence Academy. Besides being a feeder institution to NDA, the twenty-four Sainik Schools located all over India have brought Public School Education within the reach of common man especially the wards of socially and economically weaker sections of our society. Sainik Schools as a family have been able to provide the right material to NDA by espousing young cadets to join the defence services. Annual Day is not really a stereotype presentation and to celebrate a day but I believe, it gives the fragrance of bouquet of activities of any School. It s my pleasure to present an overall account of the academic session The success of any educational institution rests in the quality of its end product. It s my privilege to present the School report highlighting its important aspects and achievements of this School. ACADEMICS. Sainik Schools all over the country follow the CBSE curriculum and medium of instruction is English. of Sainik Schools are offered only Science Stream with the option of choosing between Biology and Computer Science after AISSE board examination. Besides CBSE Examination, the School also prepares cadets for UPSC examination for entry into NDA/NA Examination, National Talent Search Examination (NTSE), Maths and Science Olympiad under the aegis of CBSE. The last Academic session commenced wef 01 Apr boys have been admitted into class VI, 30 boys in class IX. It gives me immense pleasure to announce that Sainik School Gopalganj has been awarded Merit Certificate for best academic performance in All India Secondary School Examination for the Academic Session second time. Union Minister of State for Defence Shri MM Pallam Raju gave away the Merit Certificate on 05 Oct 2011 in All India Sainik Schools Principals Conference held at Sainik School Nagrota (Jammu). The School Badminton Team participated in CBSE East Zone Badminton Tournament at Dayawanti Punj Model School, Sitamarhi, Bhadohi (UP) wef 15 to 18 Nov CO-CURRICULAR / EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES.
