Although teacher requests are not possible, we welcome anything you may wish to ensure we are aware of in writing - at your very earliest convenience. Not after November 9, please. GRADE 6 CANBERRA TOUR Our grade 6 students are to be commended on the manner in which they conducted themselves and engaged with learning and social opportunities as they made their way around Canberra. Congratulations on upholding the values of our school and a big thankyou to our staff and parent helpers for their exemplary planning and management of the experience. 2 War Memorial by Night 60,000 poppies a moving sight Dear Parents, During our recent educational tour of the national capital, students participated in a variety of educational programmes focused on Australia s history, heritage and democracy. The Australian Government recognises the importance of all young Australians being able to visit their national capital as part of their Civics and Citizenship education. To assist us in meeting the cost of the excursion, the Australian Government has contributed funding under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate (PACER) programme toward the travel expenses incurred. We would like to thank the Australian Government for their support of this program. We hope that the excursion was a rewarding experience for all students. 3 LETTERS TO THE FUTURE Our book containing letters from almost all of our students, is a gift to the students of BMPS in the year 2118 when the Bacchus Marsh Avenue will celebrate its bicentenary. The letters provide a snapshot of the lives of our student writers in this, the centenary year of our iconic avenue. PLEASE COMPLETE YOUR ORDER AS A MATTER OF URGENCY TO ENSURE YOU DO NOT MISS OUT. We are very proud of our publication and the work that Margaret Love, Chris Brown and all of our teachers and students have put into it. FIVER FOR A FARMER Congratulations to Reegan Sabo and Amelia Whitlow for leading our Fiver for a Farmer fundraiser. We raised over $ Moving the new chook house into position... Perfect timing in our farm gear!

4 WEEK OF THE ARTS Congratulations to Miss Fromholtz, Mrs Vines and our Art Captains for all of the planning and preparation that went into our 2018 Art Showcase. We welcomed Megan Grant, Artist, member of our school community and Mum to Archie and Nina. Megan shared her thoughts on the importance of creativity in all of our lives and her love of the uninhibited art created by children.

7 SUSTAINABILITY MARKET Congratulations to everyone involved in another very successful Sustainability Market. We look forward to our final market on Friday December 7

8 COLOUR RUN COLOUR EXPLOSION AT BMPS We ve hit $6000 with a goal to get to $10,000. GREAT WORK EVERYONE! Keep Going! Student Sponsorship forms have been provided to all students for the School Run4Fun Colour Explosion which is being held on Friday November at Masons Lane Prep to Grade two will leave school for Masons Lane at 1.45pm for a 1.55pm start and will participate until around 2.25pm. Grades 3 to 6 will run from 2.30 to 3.00pm and will return to school for dismissal at 3.15pm. Thank you to those families who have already kick started our fundraising efforts. It s now full steam ahead! If you haven t already, create a student profile page at and track your fundraising goals. There are some awesome features like setting your fundraising goal by choosing your favourite prizes. You can also register for online fundraising it s the key to your success! Share your profile page with family and friends anywhere around the world and request support! In conjunction with the great prizes, an extra reward will be given to the class who, as a group, raise the highest amount of funds. Don t forget to bring a white t-shirt to school on 9 th November for lots of colour and fun. With less than two weeks until our event, happy fundraising and a BIG thankyou from the fundraising team. WORKING BEE Science Garden In support of the work that Mrs McWhinney, Mrs Jeanette Simson and Mrs Marina Kelly have undertaken this year with their successful Landcare Grant we are having a working bee on SATURDAY NOVEMBER 17 9am-12pm Tasks to be undertaken are weeding, spreading gravel along paths, preparing and painting the boat, and if possible, installing some drip irrigation in the rest of the science garden and building some benches on the deck area to make our outdoor science classroom ready for use. We also have some painting tasks in other areas of the school for anyone interested. Paint tops of red tables. Sand and varnish tables in front of gym. Oiling of decks.

9 STUDENTS V TEACHERS BASKETBALL FUN Well done to our house captains for organising the students versus teachers basketball match last Friday lunch time. CANTEEN TENDER PROCESS Following many years of providing lunches and snacks for our students and Staff, Nadine and Brad Petschauer have decided to finish up in CAFÉ 28. Grateful thanks to Nadine, Brad and the CAFÉ staff. 10 CONGRATULATIONS SUPER HEROS Our staff team along with supportive family and friends entered the Relay for Life, in support of cancer survivors, carers and ongoing research this weekend. So far the group have raised over $3000. We look forward to topping this off with the support of our students on Monday 29 as they dress in their super hero attire and bring a gold coin.

11 SPORT REPORT REGIONAL ATHLETICS Last Tuesday week, 7 girls from BMPS, (Faith, Matilda, Shae, Rose, Evie, Ava and Emma), competed in the SSV regional athletics at Keilor Park Athletics Track. What a great achievement to make it through to that level! Evie in grade 4 came first in the 9/10 girls high jump and will be competing in the SSV State Championships on the 29th October. Congratulations Evie and all the best at States. DIVISION BASKETBALL Last Thursday week, the grade 6 girls basketball team competed in the division basketball round robin. They were successful on the day becoming Division Champions and will advance to the Regional Championships early November. Thank you to the team, Mr Baselmans and coach Jacqui, for all of their efforts. Good luck at the next level.
