1 Newsletter 1: Term January 2018 Dear Parents and Guardians A warm welcome to all our learners (new and old), parents and staff! We pray that 2018 will be a year of great progress and joy! We welcome our new Cross-Over Remedial School educators to our team! We pray that you will be happy at your new school and we are certain that you will all be an asset to our staff. 2 **Parents Information Evening: Thursday, 25 January 2018 (19:00 20:30) We invite our parents (new and old) to please attend our Parents Information Evening this Thursday Evening, 25 January. We will introduce you to our therapists, teachers, give you important information regarding our school rules etc. If we can please ask that only one representative per family be present due to a lack of chairs. If both parents would like to come, please bring along a camping chair in case there aren t enough chairs. Apologies. Please complete return slip on page 3 (and return by Thursday morning please) so that we can determine how many parents will be attending. We look forward to seeing you there! Cross-Over Remedial School Shop - Open 2 days a week as of today: Mondays: 14:30 17:00 Fridays: 14:30 17:00 Please note that the school shop will be run solely by Pinky and her staff during the hours specified above and the school will not be able to assist you outside those times. (External service provider) Speech and Drama (External Service Provider see yellow letter attached) Please contact Sally directly should your child want to participate School Diaries (Grade 4 9): Our 2018 diaries have arrived and will be handed out tomorrow (Tuesday, 23 January). The Cross-Over Diaries are compulsory for all Grade 4 9 learners. Please send R50 cash to your child s register teacher urgently so that your child can start using it. Please check and sign Homework diaries on a daily basis. 2

3 Civvies 2018 (R10 per child) Fundraiser: The learners will no longer be wearing civvies on a weekly basis. It will now be on a monthly basis please see Term 1Term Plan attached. The cost per child is now R10 and they will be dressing according to a specific theme. New learner s transfer cards and Term reports: We request that all parents of new learners who started with Cross-Over Remedial School in 2018 please send in your child s Term progress report as well as the transfer card from his/her previous school. It is vital that we have these documents on record. If these could please be sent to your child s register teacher by this Friday the latest, and they will send it up to the office. Thank you for your assistance! Stationery, Workbook packs and Textbooks outstanding: There are a number of learners who do not have all the necessary stationery, workbooks and textbooks. We are aware that PNA are waiting for a delivery of textbook stock. If parents can please ensure that your child has everything that they need ASAP as formal work started today. Stationery and textbooks lists are on our website should you need them. Workbook packs (Grade R-5) need to be paid for in cash please, to Ursula in the front office. Aftercare 2018: Hours: 14:30 17:30 Parents who arrive later than 17:30 will be charged for every half an hour that they are late. This will be added to your school fees account. Please try your best to be on time. Thank you! We pray that it will be great term. Please encourage your child to work hard and give of their best this term. God bless!
