1 Hobb Lane Hedge End, Southampton Hampshire, SO30 0GG Telephone: (01489) Website: Headteacher: Mrs Deborah Johnson, BEd, MSc No. 3 School Newsletter November 2018 Congratulations to Miss Hindley We are delighted to announce that Miss Hindley has been appointed as Headteacher at Boorley Park Primary School. Boorley Park Primary School is a new Primary School currently under construction, opening for Year R pupils in September This is a wonderful opportunity for Miss Hindley who has been at Freegrounds for seven years and Deputy Headteacher since September We are all really thrilled for Miss Hindley who has has such a positive influence on so many children who have attended Freegrounds and has supported a huge number of families, parents/carers and children, as teacher, Year Leader, SENDCo and Deputy. During this term Miss Hindley has been supporting in the leadership of a school in the north of the County for 3 days a week. She will officially leave Freegrounds at the end of this term but we are planning for her to return to carry out some projects with us during the Spring term so we will still see her around! I know that you would wish to join with us in congratulating Miss Hindley on this fabulous appointment. Children in Need 2018 This year we will be supporting Children in Need on Friday 16th November. Your child can bring money for cakes, that will be sold at break, lunch and after school. (Please note there will be no tuck shop available at break time) Your child can come to school in non school uniform or wear something dotty (optional). If you would like to donate cakes for our cake sale please bring them to the hall before school. (please note we are a nut free school).

4 Autumn Term 2 Sports Desk Both our girls and boys Football teams continued their journeys in the Hampshire Cup after the half term break. Both games were hosted at Freegrounds with Oakley School from Basingstoke playing the girls first. After taking a well earned lead we were unfortunately pegged back soon after, and with the game looking like it would go to penalties, Oakley managed to perform the move of the game ending with a fabulous goal to edge us out 2-1. Well done, it was a great effort! The boys then met Springhill School from Southampton two days later, and what a great game! Both teams played some fantastic football but it was Freegrounds who eventually progressed into the next round after a well fought battle, winning 2-1. Well played, you deserved the win! We also took part in the annual Dodge Ball Festival at Wildern this month, with a Year 5 team representing the school. The children had a fantastic time winning four of their six games, massively improving every match. We also saw the start of a much anticipated round of House competitions, starting with Football. We have been incredibly lucky with the weather and have managed to play both the Year 3-4 boys and Year 5-6 boys competitions, with the Year 5-6 girls to follow shortly. All year groups have played some fantastic football with an amazing fair and competitive spirit. The winners of the Year 3-4 competition were Russet, with Empire winning the Year 5-6! Fantastic effort from everyone, well done!!! After School Clubs The Autumn 2 after school clubs started Monday 5th November, and will run for five weeks. Change of day for Arts and Craft Club On Monday 26th November we are on INSET day, Arts and Crafts Club will be on Tuesday 27th November for that week only.
