Pitucco, Director of Human Resources Lisa Rebimbas, Director of Special Services MOTION FOR EXECUTIVE SESSION WHEREAS, the Board of Education must discuss subjects concerning personnel, litigation and negotiations; and, WHEREAS, the aforesaid subjects are not appropriate subjects to be discussed in a public meeting; and, WHEREAS, the aforesaid subjects to be discussed are within the exemptions which are permitted to be discussed and acted upon in private session pursuant to P.L. 1975, Chapter 231, IT IS THEREFORE RESOLVED that the aforesaid subjects shall be discussed in private recess by this Board and administrative staff, and

In accordance with the provisions of this Act, the Scotch Plains-Fanwood Board of Education has caused notice of this meeting to be published by having the date, time and place thereof posted at the Board of Education offices located at Cedar Street and Evergreen Avenue, Scotch Plains, New Jersey. Such notice was also provided in written notice forwarded to the The Times, the Township Clerk of Scotch Plains and the Borough Clerk of Fanwood in the Annual Notice of Regularly Scheduled Meetings as adopted March 30, PUBLIC HEARING ON SCHOOL BUDGET Adoption of School Budget Move that the Board of Education adopts the school budget as follows: BE IT RESOLVED that the Scotch Plains-Fanwood Board of Education hereby approves submission to the Executive County Superintendent of Schools a final budget for the school year as follows:

Terrill Middle School Jazz Band students in seventh and eighth grade (approx. 47) and 3 Chaperones, to travel to Elephante Music in New Providence, NJ on May 15, 2018 to perform three genres of Jazz music for adjudication and feedback on how to sharpen their musical skills PERSONNEL AGENDA *1-PERS Approval of Superintendent s Personnel Report (Roll Call Vote) Move that the Board of Education approve the Superintendent s recommendations for personnel on the Personnel Report dated April 19, 2018 in the areas noted below: 1. Funding will be withdrawn from Capital Reserve. 11-BUS ELLI Grant Application Move that the Board of Education approves submission of the ELLI Grant Application for preschool plans and acceptance of funding in the amount of $49, BUS Business Reports Move that the Board of Education acknowledges receipt of Board Secretary s Reports, Treasurer of School Fund Reports, and Budget Adjustments:

10 April 19, 2018 Page 10 Pursuant to N.J.A.C. 6A:23A-16.10(c), the Board Secretary certifies that as of March 31, 2018, no line item account has encumbrances and expenditures which in total exceed the line item appropriation in violation of N.J.A.C. 6A:23A-16.10(a); and that pursuant to N.J.A.C. 6A:23A-16.10(c), the Scotch Plains-Fanwood Board of Education, after review of the Board Secretary's and Treasurer's monthly financial reports, certifies that no major account or fund has been over expended in violation of N.J.A.C. 6A:23A-16.10(b). 11 April 19, 2018 Page 11 WHEREAS, teachers make public schools great; and WHEREAS, teachers work to open students' minds to ideas, knowledge and dreams; and WHEREAS, teachers keep American democracy alive by laying the foundation for good citizenship; and WHEREAS, teachers fill many roles, as listeners, explorers, role models, motivators and mentors; and WHEREAS, teachers continue to influence us long after our school days are only memories; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Scotch Plains-Fanwood Board of Education does hereby proclaim May 7-11, 2018 as Teacher Appreciation Week and May 8, 2018 as Teacher Appreciation Day and strongly encourages all members of our community to join with it in personally expressing appreciation to our teachers for their dedication and devotion to their work. 3-OBB Retiree Resolutions Move that the Board of Education adopts the resolutions for the Scotch Plains- Fanwood School District retirees as completed by administrators: WHEREAS, (name) will retire on (date) after over (number) of years of service as a loyal member of the (school) staff; and, WHEREAS, (name) instructed students in grades ( ) through and worked with students in the District s (elementary, middle, high school); and, WHEREAS, (name) encouraged students to work hard to reach their potential and instilled optimism and confidence in the students; and, WHEREAS, (name) was a creative and caring teacher who earned the respect and affection of the students and the staff, the administration, and his/her colleagues in these many years of unselfish commitment to the District, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Scotch Plains-Fanwood Board of Education recognizes and commends (name) for his/her outstanding service and extends to him/her all best wishes for good health and happiness in his/her well-deserved retirement.
