An extraordinary AGM is scheduled for Tuesday February 12, If you know of anyone who might be suitable or would be interested in the following positions, please contact the front office to make these suggestions/nominations: President Vice President Secretary Treasurer I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank our current executive members for their dedication and service over the last few years. Thank you Peta Shine President, Laureen Smith Treasurer and Carrie Leary Secretary. Your commitment to our school and making first class resources available to our students, is greatly appreciated and will be treasured for years to come. Staffing News Update: It is with a sense of sadness, that I announce our Finance Secretary, Mrs Jennifer Morris will be leaving St Brendan s at the end of Jennifer has been successfully appointed to a fulltime position at St Joachim s Catholic Primary School Holland Park. Jennifer has decided to take the opportunity to work fulltime in one school. I have been incredibly proud to have Jennifer as part of our amazing team and I will miss her terribly. I know you join with me in congratulating Jennifer on her new appointment and wish her well with her new adventures. Congratulations Jennifer! Staffing for the 2018 school year continues to be finalized. There are still some changes needing to be addressed. The 2019 Staff List will be published in our Week 8 newsletter. URGENT REQUEST: As previously mentioned, all staffing and budgeting is highly dependent on next year s student enrolment numbers. Once again I request that you please inform the school, as a matter of urgency, if your child (who is not in Year 6) and your family will not be returning to St Brendan s in 2019.

2 2019 Prep Orientation On Monday night, we had the great pleasure of meeting the parents of our 2019 Prep students for their first information session. There was a fabulous turn out and all families were engaged and very keen to ask lots of questions about what life will be like at St Brendan s for their children. Thank you to Mrs Comerford, Mrs Williams, Miss Klinge, Mrs Vakaci, Mrs McKenna, Mrs Ibbott and Miss Hamadani for their presence on this very important evening. I know that all the families enjoyed meeting our staff and they are all looking forward to starting in Yesterday morning we welcomed the children who will start in Prep next year and we had a lovely orientation morning with them in the Prep classroom. They arrived with great enthusiasm and were very calm when it came time to say goodbye to their parents. I look forward to seeing them again over the next couple of weeks for some shorter visits and then welcoming them officially, full time in Thank you Mrs Linda White for taking care of our current Prep students during this orientation process. Your support and care is always appreciated. Finally, I want to acknowledge and thank Carmel and Mrs Cassidy for the work they did to prepare for these two very important events in our calendar. Carmel worked hard to prepare all the materials that are needed for the families and the children, as well as supporting me to make the process happen and run smoothly. Mrs Cassidy works hard to keep our uniform shop operating smoothly and makes sure that there are enough uniforms for all our new students. We are certainly blessed to have such special people in our school. Coming Events: Some very special annual celebrations have been planned for the coming weeks. Tuesday November 27 is the annual Christmas Concert commencing at 5.30pm. This is always an exciting event in our school calendar. Thank you to Mrs Emmerson, Mr Gerrard and all the teachers who are all working so hard with the children to bring this event together. We will also be including Mr Gerrard s farewell as part of this evening. Please refer to the sent out to all families earlier today for further information. Friday November 30 is our annual swimming carnival at Moorooka State School pool. All parents and family members are welcome to attend to support the students. Our annual celebration to acknowledge and celebrate the wonderful work of our school volunteers, will occur at 9am on Thursday December 6. All volunteers are invited to the Thank You to Our Volunteers Morning Tea. I look forward to celebrating with and thanking these wonderful people, for their generosity and support of everything, we do here at St Brendan s. The final week of our school year is fast approaching and as usual there is lots to consider. One of the most exciting events for the children in the last week of the year is the whole school excursion, which is being held on Monday December 3. You will receive the permission notes for these excursions in the coming days. Please ensure that you complete these permission forms at your earliest convenience. The details for these excursions are still being finalized and as soon as they are confirmed, we will notify you.

3 Parents and carers of all present Prep students are reminded that your children will be required to wear the formal school uniform next year in Year 1. Please arrange to see Mrs Cassidy to purchase this uniform. Semester 2 Student Reports are currently being finalized by teaching staff and will be sent home in the last week of school. I would like to make another request for all families to meet their financial obligation to the school prior to the upcoming holidays. Please note this includes Term 4 fees and levies as well as the 2019 Resource Levy payment of $170. Please make an appointment to see me if the meeting of this request will not be possible for your family. Please Note: The final school day of 2018 is Friday December 7 and school will finish at 12 noon on this day noon finish!
