1 Our School Values: RESPECT, RESILIENCE, TEAMWORK & COLLABORATION and COMMUNITY OUR FOCUS EXPECTATION IS:- WALKING FEET VEGIE PATCH Our students have been working hard during lunchtimes on the school vegetable garden. They have been doing a fantastic job and will soon be able to enjoy the produce they have grown. Keep an eye out for upcoming improvements!!! SWIMMING PROGRAM The Junior swimming program is in its last week with only two days to go. Swimming sessions are as below: 12:20-1:00 F/1MB & 1/2M 1:00-1:40 F/1H & 1/2B 1:40-2:20 F/1L Reminder that Senior Students Swimming Program begins this Monday. Permission notes and payment are now due. Costs for the program is $50.00 per child. Payment must be made for students to attend program, unless arrangement made at school office. Students have also been given a Swim Program Levels Sheet. Please read through carefully and make a selection of your child s level. Full Day OSHC available on this day. Friday 30th November 2019 Book List Orders due in Dear Parents, CURRICULUM DAY Our term 4 Curriculum Day will be held on Wednesday 28 th November. This is a student free day. Outside School Hours Care program will run on this day (See newsletter article) BOOK LISTS Will be sent home with students on Monday 19th November. Each child will receive a book list according to their 2019 grade level. Orders are due by Friday 30th November, These can be entered online, returned to Central Vic Office Supplies or the school office. STATE ELECTION - VOTING The Huntly Primary School multipurpose room will be used as a polling venue for the upcoming State election. TERM 4 KEY DATES FOR DECEMBER 2019 School Fees (Essential Items) will be distributed on Tuesday, December 6 th. No money is required to be paid prior to the 2019 school year. You will receive a breakdown of the school essential items and key dates for payments Grade Notification - Parents will be advised in writing of their child s class placement for 2019 on Tuesday, December 11 th. This day is also our whole school transition day. The Year 6 Graduation will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 19 th (further information will be forwarded to Grade 6 students) The End of Year Picnic Basket Tea will take place on the evening of Thursday, December 20 th. (further information will be forwarded shortly). End of School Year - Friday, December 21st. Students dismissed at 1.30pm READING EVERY CHILD, EVERY NIGHT I ll take this opportunity to remind all of our families of the importance of your children reading every night. Research says There is a strong correlation between a child s ability to read and their academic performance. Because so much of our schooling relies on our ability to read, children must have strong reading skills to succeed and thrive in school. Please take the time to ensure that your child, no matter what their age is, reads every night. ENROLMENTS AND DEPARTURES PLANNING FOR 2019 Is your Foundation (Prep) child enrolled for 2019? If not, you need to get in contact with the Office ASAP. Are you moving away from Huntly PS next year? If so, you need to let the Office know ASAP. If you have friends or family coming next year, please check in with them to ensure they have enrolled. CHILD SAFE STANDARDS Huntly Primary School, like many others across the state, has a wide range of policies and protocols in place that meet existing Student Safety requirements. Our School Council has a schedule for reviewing policies both annually and every two or three years (depends on the type of policy). Our policies are aligned with the Child Safe Standards. 3 BOOK FAIR Our second Book Fair for 2018 is coming up in a few weeks time. This is a great opportunity to get some early Christmas shopping started. We hope to see you there. Selling times: Monday 19th Nov to 9.00am & 3.30 to 4.00pm Tuesday 20th Nov to 9.00am & 3.30 to 4.00pm Wednesday 21st Nov to 9.00am only OUTSIDE SCHOOL HOURS CARE CURRICULUM DAY WEDNESDAY 28TH NOVEMBER Outside School Hours Care will be operating a full day program of fun activities on Wednesday 28th November. If you wish to book your child/children into the program (they do not have to be attending the whole day) please make booking at the school office by Thursday 22nd November. Please note that if we do not get enough bookings for the day the program will not run. Parents will be notified a few days before hand so they can make other arrangements. ZOOPER DOOPER DAY Friday 23rd November Zooper $1.00 For sale second lunch at the canteen. STUDENTS OF THE WEEK AWARDS Congratulations to the following students who will be presented with their Students of the Week Award at next weeks assembly: Monday 19th November, 9.00am. F/1L - Ku Ku M: for being resilient during our swimming program. F/1M - Hugh A: for taking pride in his school community. Evan T: for being brave and courageous. F/1H - Ajay K: for making improvements to his writing and being proud of his achievements. 1/2M - Zayne A: for making some great independent attempts at writing. 1/2B - Chloe B: for consistently applying her time well in class. 3/4L - Jack O: for explaining his thinking clearly in Shared Reading. 3/4M - Max A: for persisting with Bike Ed and not giving up when it became difficult. 3/4R - Caleb V: for using his manners and being an active class member. 5/6J - Judd G: for working hard on your Theme Park Maths. 5/6G - Luke T: for his focus and commitment to improving his riding skills during Bike Ed. 5/6O - Marcus D: for his hard work on his limerick poems. WHOLE SCHOOL ASSEMBLY 9.00AM MONDAY MORNINGS. ALL WELCOME TO ATTEND. PARENTS GROUP NEWS Our NEXT MEETING will be held, TOMORROW Thursday 15th November at 9.15am in the OSHC room. Everyone (including pre school children) is welcome to come along for a cuppa. If you are unable to attend the meeting but have any ideas, please leave them in writing at the school office. PARENTS GROUP CHRISTMAS HAMPER RAFFLE Once again the Huntly Primary School Parents Group is holding a Christmas Hamper Raffle. Books of tickets have been sent home today. Ticket costs $1.00 each. Families are asked to donate items to the hampers for their child s classroom. There will be boxes in each classroom for you to place your items in. Please send in items by Friday 7 th December so that the hampers can be assembled and put on display in the office. Listed below are the various hampers for each classroom. Please feel free to choose any items that fit with the theme for your hamper. The items listed are just suggestions. The raffle will be drawn at the end of year Family Night, to be held at school during last week of term 4.
