3 The Primary PE and Sport Premium The Primary PE and Sport Premium must be used to fund additional and sustainable improvements to the provision of PE and sport, for the benefit of primary-aged pupils, to encourage the development of healthy, active lifestyles. Vision: All pupils leaving primary school physically literate and with the knowledge, skills and motivation necessary to equip them for a healthy lifestyle and lifelong participation in physical activity and sport. Objective: To achieve self-sustaining improvement in the quality of PE and sport in primary schools. Indicators of such improvement should include: The engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity kick-starting healthy active lifestyles The profile of PE and sport being raised across the school as a tool for whole school improvement Increased confidence, knowledge and skills of all staff in teaching PE and sport Broader experience of a range of sports and activities offered to all pupils Increased participation in competitive sport As an affiliated school, we will work together to: offer a wide range of opportunities in PE, Sport and Physical Activity ensure more young people benefit from PE, Sport and Physical Activity improve PE, Sport and Physical Activity delivery and practice develop teachers knowledge, skills and confidence raise standards in your school celebrate and advocate PE and Sport raise aspirations through inspiring and motivating young people bring out the best in young people ensure the next generation are active, healthy citizens

This includes access to the following: Teacher Training session led by Pobble School visit by Pobble to launch the initiative and deliver a literacy lesson Further classroom sessions, delivered by the class teacher A Pobble class account Active Literacy Training & Resource Celebration event with Derby City SSP DCFC Stadium Tour Impact: School has an understanding of the benefits of Literacy through Sport Staff are equipped to implement Literacy through Sport in the curriculum More physical activity is built into the school day Pupils enjoy taking part in Literacy through Sport and are making progress

6 Autumn Term Impact PE, School Sport & Physical Activity Breakfast Briefing September 2017 Summary: Schools were provided with an update regarding the Primary PE & Sport Premium Funding. In addition, the SSP shared information about the opportunities for in PE, School Sport and Physical Activity for Derby City schools. Delegates were encouraged to network with schools and organisations throughout the session. Impact: Schools provided with latest update regarding Primary PE & Sport Premium Funding from Sept 2017 and effective usage of the funding SSP Activity Wheel 2017/18 shared, enabling schools to shape their individual school plan for PE, School Sport and Physical Activity Calendar of events for 2017/18 shared to allow schools to identify range of opportunities to benefit pupils next year PHYSICAL ACTIVITY Safe Practice in PE Workshop Dec 2017 Delivered by the Association for PE, this course was designed to help staff to feel confident when dealing with health and safety issues in PE & School Sport. Delegate Rating/ Feedback: Good Impact: Delegates Have a sound understanding of H&S principles in relation to PE & Sport Feel more confident in your teaching, in the knowledge that you are applying key Health & Safety principles Are familiar with a risk assessment approach in PE and Sport in school Are able to support students to recognise how they play a part to ensure the safe inclusion of all pupils Are familiar with the afpe Safe Practice publication
