The weekend was a success and the money raised will go to the Parents Club who in turn will make recommendations to the School Council to how we can spend it. Welcome BBQ Evening Friday, 16 th March On Friday, 16 th March we invite all parents and extended family members to join the staff for a welcome BBQ at the school. There will be sausages in bread and soft drink for sale at the BBQ. The sausages and soft drink will be $2.00 each. To assist us with catering purposes can you please fill out the RSVP slip attached to this newsletter indicating whether you will attend or not and if so how many will be attending. 1 Thrive, Strive and Achieve
2 Mindfulness Stars This week our Mindfulness Stars are Aiden Hibma and Max Tille. Congratulations to you both. Parent Teacher Interviews Wednesday, 21 st March Parent Teacher Interviews will be conducted at the end of this term on Wednesday, 21 st March from 3.30pm 6.00pm. Interviews will take place every ten minutes. The idea of the interview is for the teachers to give an overview of how your child has started the 2018 school year. If you believe, you need a longer time for this interview or can t make it on that date feel free to contact the office. All of our teachers are very flexible and can make alternate arrangements. Please contact the school office to confirm your interview time. Breakfast Club Last week we began our school breakfast program. The program will start from approximately 8.45am and go until 9.15am each Tuesday and Thursday morning. All students are welcome to come along and sample the breakfast treats of oats, cheerios, fruit cups, apples and muesli bars. The grade 6 students will be organizing the serving, preparation and organization of this. Grade 4 6 School Camp A couple of weeks ago information about medical consent was distributed to parents for the school camp. This online form is a requirement of the Borambola Camp administration. To complete the medical consent you go to Once you are in the site you just follow the prompts. It only takes approximately 5 minutes to complete. Our 6 digit booking number is The cost of the camp will be $200 per student. Information and forms to be completed have been sent home with students today. Please return by Wednesday the 14 th of March. 2 Thrive, Strive and Achieve
3 Interschool Athletics Friday, 23 rd March On Friday the 23 rd of March we will be running the annual interschool athletics. On this day parents are asked to transport their children to Nathalia Recreation Reserve for this event. We ask that the students arrive at approximately 9.45am for a 10.00am start. This is a compulsory school day. The day will commence at 10.00am and conclude at approximately 2.00pm. Buses will not be running on this day. Swimming Fun Day Last Wednesday we held our swimming fun day which signified the end of the swimming program. The students participated in relays and diving events. Throughout the whole program the students improved their confidence in the water and developed some stroke technique and stamina. Once again, thank you to all the volunteers who assisted with the program. Swimming Special Prizes Thanks to the generosity of Gayle Watters we gained four sets of swimming goggles to give out as prizes at the end of the swimming program. As a staff we discussed and decided to give them to the swimmers who improved significantly throughout the ten days. The recipients of the goggles were: Amarlie Gilmour, Caydin Hook, Asha Bullock, Jordynn Kane Congratulations to you all! Division Swimming Results FREESTYLE: HEATS Rhani 7 th overall (went into finals) Toby Newbery 13 th Overall Demi 9 th overall (just missing finals by one) Blake 9 th overall (just missing finals by one) BACKSTROKE: HEATS Demi 11 th overall Viv 4 th (went into finals) 3 Thrive, Strive and Achieve
4 BREASTSTROKE: HEATS Abbie 15 th overall BUTTERFLY: HEATS Blake 5 th overall (went into Finals) FINALS FREESTYLE: Rhani 8 th BACKSTROKE: Viv 4 th BUTTERFLY: Blake - 3 rd 9-10 relay boys team (TOBY, COOPER, TOBIE, RHANI) 5 th relay boys team (HARRY, VIV, BLAKE, BAZ) 4 th medley mixed team (DEMI, BLAKE, ABBIE, VIV) 4 th Young Leaders Day Monday, 26 th March A permission slip and information for this day was sent home last week. Can you please ensure that payment and the permission slip are back at the school as soon as possible. As discussed in the letter if you are experiencing difficulty paying for this please contact Scott or Andrea in the office to set up a payment plan. The day will be a very long one for the students. We are asking that parents get the students to Numurkah Primary School by 5.45am for a 6.00am departure. It should be an amazing day. The grade 6 students in 2017 spoke about the day all year last year. Bus Travellers Parents should note that if you have made other than normal travel arrangements for your child you must inform the school. Without a note or telephone call, your child will be put on the bus and dropped off at their regular stop. Please note that only registered bus travellers are able to travel on the school bus. EASTER EGG RAFFLE The Junior School Council along with the Parents Club have once again proposed to conduct an Easter Egg raffle. This raffle was very well supported last year and we hope for the same response this year. We will be asking each family to donate an Easter egg which will go towards making up several hampers. The hampers will be put together and raffled off on Thursday the 22 nd of March, an earlier date due to camp the following week. Please send along the donated items on either Tuesday the 20 th or Wednesday the 21 st of March. A Raffle book is attached to today s newsletter. The book contains 20 tickets to be sold for $1.00. Please write name and phone number on each ticket sold and return raffle books back and money by Wednesday the 21 st of March. 4 Thrive, Strive and Achieve
5 Scholastic Book Club The booklets have been sent home with today s newsletter. All orders are to be received by Wednesday the 14 th of March. Orders may be placed online or by cash/cheque.
