Full Day OSHC available on this day. Dear Parents, 2019 SCHOOL YEAR PLANNING After careful consideration of grade structure models the 2019 model has been decided. The grade structure will assist in maintaining similar class sizes to this year. Our planning aims to keep class sizes as low as possible. It is important to let us know of any changes to your circumstances so if your child will not be attending Huntly Primary School please let us know. Average Number of Students Grade Level Number of Classes in 2019 per Class Foundation/ / / / CLASS GROUPINGS The process of placing students into grades has commenced and will be shared with families in the near future. All requests for class group friendships that were forwarded within the timeline provided earlier in the term are being considered. CURRICULUM DAY Our term 4 Curriculum Day will be held on Wednesday 28 th November. This is a student free day. OUTSIDE SCHOOL HOURS CARE CURRICULUM DAY WEDNESDAY 28TH NOVEMBER Outside School Hours Care will be operating a full day program of fun activities on Wednesday 28th November. If you wish to book your child/children into the program (they do not have to be attending the whole day) please make booking at the school office by Thursday 22nd November. Please note that if we do not get enough bookings for the day the program will not run. Parents will be notified a few days before hand so they can make other arrangements. PROMOTING OUR SCHOOL We are always looking at ways of promoting our school to new families. I believe one of the most effective ways to promote the school is through you, the parents. If you know anyone moving into our area, has a child attending your child s pre-school or who has a child starting Prep next year and is considering their school enrolment options, then talk to them about our school and please invite them contact the school and set up a time for a tour. GRADE 5 LEADERSHIP DAY - Student Report... On the 2 nd of November Mr Guy kindly took all of the Grade 5 s from Huntly P.S. and also other schools. We went to the Epsom soccer grounds to meet Mr Freemen to talk about leadership and what a great leader looks like, to prepare us for next year when we are in grade six. We did heaps of different activities. However, we had to cancel it early because of the thunderstorm. We would like to thank Mr Freemen and the Werona kids, also all the speakers. 3 BOOK FAIR Our second Book Fair for 2018 is coming up in a few weeks time. This is a great opportunity to get some early Christmas shopping started. We hope to see you there. This will be held on Thursday 8th November p.m. in the Multi Purpose Room. Please come along and take this opportunity to meet some of the other parents with students starting school next year. ALL WELCOME TO ATTEND. PARENTS GROUP NEWS Our NEXT MEETING will be held on Thursday 15th November at 9.15am in the OSHC room. Everyone (including pre school children) is welcome to come along for a cuppa. If you are unable to attend the meeting but have any ideas, please leave them in writing at the school office. MUFFIN DAY Thank you to all the families who supported our Muffin Day last Friday. PARENTS GROUP CHRISTMAS HAMPER RAFFLE Once again the Huntly Primary School Parents Group is holding a Christmas Hamper Raffle. Books of tickets have been sent home today. Ticket costs $1.00 each. Families are asked to donate items to the hampers for their child s classroom. There will be boxes in each classroom for you to place your items in. Please send in items by Friday 7 th December so that the hampers can be assembled and put on display in the office. Listed below are the various hampers for each classroom. Please feel free to choose any items that fit with the theme for your hamper. The items listed are just suggestions. The raffle will be drawn at the end of year Family Night, to be held at school during last week of term 4. 4 THE WELCOME DANCE On Monday the 5th of November at assembly Shae G her Auntie (Paulie) and her little cousin (Jassy) performed a Welcome dance along with an indigenous song in language, sung by her Auntie. Afterwards they performed a dreaming dance with the help of Ella and Macey H, her Auntie also helped by playing the clapping sticks. On the 17th of November coming, there is an indigenous celebration going at Roslyn park to celebrate there ancestors and elders. They hope to see you there. Written by, Melea P and Valentina A. Public Relations Officers. SUSTAINABILITY TEAM - NUDE FOOD DAY Well done to all students and families who aimed for a Nude Food lunchbox last Thursday. Reducing packaging minimises the waste we deal with at school and significantly reduces littering often it makes for healthier lunchboxes too and saves money at the checkout The following students received a nude food container as a prize for their 100% nude food lunchboxes; P/1H Sahri P/1L Austin M P/1MB Evie N 1/2B Ella 1/2M Thomas S 3/4M Cooper H 3/4R Jemma McD 5/6O Melea P 5/6J Danielle B 5/6 G Dakota D The classroom with the most number of Nude Food lunchboxes was 1/2M with 14!! From your Sustainability Leaders; Lachie W, Ned H, Nikita P and Tom M SPORTS NEWS GRADE 5/6 CRICKET BLAST On Tuesday 30th October, Grade 6 girls and Grade 5/6 boys participated in the 5/6 Cricket Blast. The girls were undefeated. We won 3 games and drew the final. Our overall place was 3rd. Our girls team did a good job considering no one had played cricket before. Thanks Mrs Dunlop for coaching and Miss B for organising the day. Sienna and Nevaeh. On Tuesday the 30th of the 10th, some Huntly P.S students represented our school in the 5/6 Cricket Blast Tournament. The boys 1 team went through undefeated and won the grand final by 5 runs. Big thanks to Miss Bennett for organising and the coaching on the day. By Lachie, Judd and Craig. Rohan I enjoyed batting. Max I enjoyed bowling Geordie I enjoyed getting out there and improving on my batting. I enjoyed having a go and being with my friends. We had a great day even though we came 14th. We all enjoyed it and improved in all areas. We won 1 game and lost 3. Thanks Jess for coaching us. By Todd SWIMMING PROGRAM The Junior swimming program has started off well with all students enjoying getting in the water and learning new skills. Swimming sessions are as below: 12:20-1:00 F/1MB & 1/2M 1:00-1:40 F/1H & 1/2B 1:40-2:20 F/1L Reminder to senior students that permission notes and payment are now due. Costs for the program is $50.00 per child. Payment must be made for students to attend program, unless arrangement made at school office. Students have also been given a Swim Program Levels Sheet. Please read through carefully and make a selection of your child s level. Once you have decided on a level please go online using the link below and fill out the basic form so we can make appropriate arrangement for classes and instructors.
