2 Introduction This is a module to explain and show the form of singular noun transforming to plural noun and Regular and Irregular plural forms of a noun. Most nouns in English have both singular and plural forms, and the plural is usually formed by adding -s to the singular. Although most nouns have plurals formed according to regular rules, some nouns have unusual, or irregular plurals. Pre-Test Instruction: Identify the noun in each sentence. Parties - Discussion Forms of Noun from Singular to Plural are shown below including the Regular and Irregular Noun. In general the plural of a noun is formed by adding -S to the noun. car house book bird pencil cars houses books birds pencils However: Regular Noun When the noun ends in SS, SH, CH or X, we add -ES to the noun. kiss wish match box fox kisses wishes matches boxes foxes When the noun ends in a VOWEL + Y, we add -S to the noun. boy holiday key guy boys holidays keys guys 3

4 When the noun ends in a CONSONANT + Y, we remove Y and add -IES to the noun. If the noun ends in IS, we change it to ES. party parties lady ladies story stories nanny nannies city cities analysis analyses basis bases crisis crises Irregular Noun There are a number of nouns that don't follow these rules. They are irregular and you need to learn them individually because they don't normally have an S on the end. Irregular nouns made plural by changing vowels, changing the word, or adding a different ending Singular man woman child foot tooth goose mouse If the noun ends in F or FE, we remove the F/FE and add -VES to the noun. 5 Drill Instruction:Underline at least 10 nouns in the paragraph. Repeated/Same noun underlined is not counted. Andre saw his opportunity. He grabbed the waitress and asked Who are those men at the other table with some ladies around them? She refused to answer, but when he pulled out a thousand dollar and put it inside the pocket of the waitress, she began giving informations. Andre change his disguise in order for no one to think suspicious at his appearance. The men that his looking for left the building. He didn t notice them because of the waitress s talkativeness. Andre decided to follow them in the parking lot, making a probability that they are there. He run as fast as he could just to catch those men but when he arrives, it s too late, the men got away. A call came in, it s his partner Zinjine asking if he get some information to those men. Andre sadly say no. Zinjine bursts into madness of what he said to him. He said many things but Detective Andre hung up his cellphone. Instruction: Group each word accordingly to its form. Afterwards calls a representative in each group to pick an envelope containing a task to be accomplished within 10 minutes. (Every performance is graded base from the criteria) General Instruction: Each group must list down the nouns used by the other groups while performing and identify its form. Repeated use of the same noun is not counted. Ex. 1. Children plural form of noun Envelope (All 3 enevelopes have the same task) Instruction:Make a short skit about your daily life routine or any situation that had happened in your life. Don t forget to include exact 20 nouns in your presentation. Repetition of the same noun is allowed but not counted. Afterwards instructs them to choose only one picture individually. After done choosing a picture, the teacher asks students to construct an essay individually about the image they picked within 20 minutes. When the task is done, the teacher collects the outputs and checks if the usage and form of nouns are correct. (Every output is graded base from the criteria) 7
