By the end of Primary school, children s grammar and punctuation skills need to be at a high level. They need to have a good grasp of nouns, verbs, adjectives, pronouns, prepositions etc, in order to structure their sentences in interesting and grammatically correct ways. Punctuation such as commas, apostrophes, capital letters, colons etc, must be used correctly within sentences. How to Use This Pack Your child can work through this pack at their own pace. A grammatically correct sentence uses a and an in the right place. a bag an umbrella If you use a word that begins with a consonant, a is used. 4 Adjectives An adjective is a describing word. Adjectives help build a picture in the readers mind. Using a variety of adjectives builds interest.
