You can find the missing word from the pool of words at the bottom. Mr. Garcia calls his doctor s office to reschedule an appointment: Secretary: Hello, Jones Medical Clinic. This is Marie. How may I help you today? Mr. Garcia: Hi. I m George Garcia. I need to cancel my appointment with Dr. Nelson on Friday because there is a/an meeting that I need to attend. Secretary: Oh. I see. GRAMMAR REVIEW: General Description: Topic: Parallelism (5-6 minutes) Parallelism is a style in English writing and speaking in which groups of words that have the same use or importance in a sentence are written in similar patterns. This style is usually used with conjunctions such as "and" or "or". Remember: When creating parallelism, there should be similarities in nouns, verb forms and modifiers. a. I love writing, reading and drawing. b. I have lots of classmates, friends and neighbors. Examples: Not parallel My mother taught me how to sing, to dance, and playing the guitar Parallel My mother taught me how to sing, to dance, and to play the guitar Note: You can also just write it as to sing, dance and play the guitar Not Parallel The task needs to be done patiently, thoroughly, and on time.
