5 Cambridge IELTS : The Cambridge IELTS courses, developed by Cambridge ESOL offer a flexible and stimulating way of studying using authentic practice materials. Modules are broken down into learning chunks so that learners can make best use of small blocks of time. The courses provide learners with the opportunity to improve their listening, reading, writing and speaking skills, while also enhancing their knowledge of grammar and vocabulary. The Cambridge IELTS courses provide learners with the best possible chance of succeeding in the IELTS test. Level and Format Intermediate to Advanced The online self-study course provides practice activities for learners who are aiming for an IELTS band score of between 4.5 and 7.5. The first blended course is aimed at an IELTS range and the second blended course is aimed at an IELTS range. 6 Cambridge BULATS : BULATS (Business Language Testing Service) is an effective assessment tool which can assist companies and organisations to assess the language proficiency of current and aspiring employees. Cambridge ESOL, have developed an online complementary BULATS preparation courses to assist BULATS candidates during their test preparation stage. The Cambridge BULATS courses are designed to develop English language skills in a business context as a self study option. Level and Format Intermediate to Advanced The course is aimed at learners with an Intermediate to Advanced level of English. 7 Academic Vocabulary All language learners need vocabulary, but for tests such as IELTS or for a degree course vocabulary becomes extremely important. This interactive, online vocabulary learning resource is based on the Academic Word List and was developed specifically to address the vocabulary needs of international learners preparing to take high-stakes tests or planning to undertake tertiary study in western countries. 8 Vocab 1 Vocab 1 is an interactive, online vocabulary resource for learners at Beginner level. Learners are introduced to the 1000 most frequently used words in English. The words are organised according to lexical sets, and presented in the form of text, images, video and audio files. Vocab 2 Vocab 2 builds on Vocab 1 and is based on the second thousand most frequently used words in English. In each of the 100 units learners are introduced to 10 new words and provided with interactive reading, listening and writing practice activities to help them recognise and use these words. Low - High Beginner Intermediate The aim is to focus learners attention on the essential information about each word, including: spelling word forms pronunciation meaning use Picture Dictionary Picture Dictionary is a Absolute Beginner level resource using pictures and sounds to practise pronunciation and literacy. Picture Dictionary introduces 450 frequently used basic vocabulary items to learners at the Absolute Beginner level in a systematic and interactive way. 9 English for IT English for IT prepares learners for the everyday use of computers for work, study and leisure. Intermediate to Advanced level 1: 10 hours For learners with very basic or no computer knowledge and limited English language skills. Level 2: 40 hours For learners with basic computer knowledge and limited English language skills. Level 3: For learners with a reasonable level of computer skills and with intermediate English language skills. Level 4: For learners with a good level of computer skills and quite advanced English language skills. The goal of this level is to develop the proficiency and confidence necessary for learners to engage effectively in the IT field. Level 1 At the end of this module, learners are expected to be able to use the computer tool bars, keyboard and navigation bar as well as the interactions used to present the courseware; have developed their receptive (listening &. reading) and productive (reading & speaking) skills. Level 2 At the end of this module learners are expected to read texts and listen to discussions on IT topics. Level 3 At the end of this module learners are expected to be technically proficient in terms of understanding the navigation bar and completing online materials; have a range of general and specialist vocabulary. 10 English for Hospitality English for Hospitality is designed specifically for people working or hoping to work in the hospitality industry. It provides interactive learning material for learners to practise their language skills at an Elementary level. Outcomes Module 1 At the end of this module, learners are expected to be able to: take telephone calls for purposes such as taking phone messages, taking reservations, giving information and answering questions Module 2 At the end of this module learners are expected to be able to: receive guests at the Front Desk or restaurant reception ask for information explain services and facilities politely respond to guests when unable to help Module 3 At the end of this module learners are expected to be able to: give directions inside and outside the hotel respond to room service and housekeeping requests take orders in a restaurant cafe or bar Module 4 At the end of this module learners are expected to be able to: deal with complaints process bills deal with payment problems

11 English for Business The course provides learners with the opportunity to improve their reading, writing, listening and speaking skills while also building their knowledge of grammar and vocabulary specific to a business context. High Intermediate to High Advanced produce cohesive and grammatically correct writing use the correct format and language for reports, letters and so on produce speech that is cohesive, coherent, grammatically correct and appropriate to the situation of learning: Recommended for: Second language learners at a High-Intermediate level and above who are working, or planning to work, in a business context where the fluent use and/or comprehension of English is required.

12 English for Health Low Advanced This course aims at developing the listening and speaking skills necessary to communicate in a health-related context. There is an emphasis on vocabulary, both academic and specific health terminology. There are 4 levels: Level 1 has a focus on General Communication; Level 2 on Taking a Patient s History; Level 3 on Examination and Diagnosis; and Level 4 on Procedures and Treatments. Level 1 At the end of this level, learners are expected to have the knowledge and confidence to: introduce themselves and a 3rd person use the telephone ask for and give directions express likes and dislikes ask for personal information Level 2 At the end of this level, learners are expected to have the knowledge and confidence to: Intermediate to High Advanced express certainty and ask for clarification ask questions to find out about a patient s complaint ask about pain and discuss the type and intensity of it ask about family and social behaviours Level 3 At the end of this level, learners are expected to have the knowledge and confidence to: give reassurance explain the consequence of an action express degree of possibility give instructions use language and abbreviations associated with prescribing medication Level 4 At the end of this level, learners are expected to have the knowledge and confidence to: ask for and give an opinion discuss an opinion to make a decision ask for more detailed information

13 English for Nursing The English for Nursing online course is aimed at internationally educated nurses studying or intending to study in English speaking countries who require language support at the postsecondary level. The course consists of Nursing focused English instruction, with the emphasis on listening and reading. The course has two main sections - Academic Listening & Note Taking Skills This section includes 6 lessons focusing on academic listening and note-taking skills to help you in your Nursing upgrading courses. All topics relate to the health care field (includes the outlining method, concept mapping, charting, Cornell method). Nursing Picture Dictionary This interactive online resource contains 119 words and phrases for technical equipment which is frequently used by nurses and other health care professionals. The words and phrases are organized alphabetically. You can hear the pronunciation of each word or phrase, read the name of the equipment and also see a clear definition. It s a customized dictionary for health care professionals! Workplace Communication This section includes four lessons focusing on listening and speaking in nursing contexts such as hospitals, clinics and home visits (including nurse - nurse; nurse - patient; and nurse - family communication strategies). : 40 Hours Recommended for: Those interested in working in nursing or preparing for nursing studies or internationally educated health professionals wanting to review the English names and pronunciation of equipment.
