2 Let s review Spanish 2! -Review skills, vocabulary, verb tenses, verb conjugations, and uses of indicative mood from previous Spanish courses in order to prepare the students to move forward and continue building the skills of reading, writing, listening, and speaking in the Spanish language. -Begin researching (by means of library and internet) the cultures of Spanish speaking countries. Lesson 1- Simple Present Tense-Class discussion of prior knowledge, WB practice and Oral practice with peers. Lesson 2- Present Tense Irregular Verbs- Discussion over prior knowledge, refresher lecture over stem changing verbs and verbs irregular in yo form. Lesson 3- Present Progressive- Practice and review of two step formation of the present progressive, using estar and verb + ando or iendo. 3 Subject Spanish 3 The other past tense/chapter 1 Calendar: week3- week1/2 of 4 Timeframe: 7 days Level/Grade: HS - Identify vocabulary words and their meanings while using them correctly in any of the four skills areas of reading, writing, speaking, and listening. - Name the 2 nd form of the past tense in Spanish and be able to identify and conjugate verbs in the imperfect. - Discuss/describe the uses of the imperfect. - Focus on library research skills/internet research skills while finding information over the cultures and histories of Spanish speaking countries. Lesson1- Vocabulary- Write/List vocabulary words and definitions, Make vocabulary flash cards, listen to and repeat vocabulary words, practice using vocabulary with in context of sentences. Lesson2- Imperfect- Practice Imperfect conjugations, through classroom participation, making of verb wheels, and completing sentences with the correct form of the imperfect. Lesson3- Imperfect- Lecture over uses of the imperfect, group discussion over imperfect, guided practice, independent practice, and oral practice with a partner.(2days) Lesson4- Research in library/computer lab for project on Spanish speaking countries. 4 GT Modifications: Peer Subject Spanish 3 Calendar: week4-week6 Timeframe: 12 days Level/Grade: HS The 2 past tenses together/chapter 2 - Identify vocabulary words and their meanings while using them correctly in any of the four skills areas of reading, writing, speaking, and listening in and out of context. - Compare and contrast the uses of the preterit and imperfect and be able to differentiate when to use each with in the context of a sentence, paragraph, and essay. - Be able to write sentences in both forms of the past tense when given a photo as a prompt. - Identify verbs that are more commonly used in one form of the past tense than in the other. - Focus on library research skills/internet research skills while finding information over the cultures and histories of Spanish speaking countries. Lesson1- Vocabulary- Write/List vocabulary words and definitions, Make vocabulary flash cards, see(actual item and even taste them(food)), listen to and repeat vocabulary words, practice using vocabulary with in context of sentences. Lesson2- Imperfect vs. Preterit- Discuss uses of the two forms together contrast and compare the uses with in a discussion and in note taking. Write and search for keywords that will help students decide when to use either form.(2 days) Lesson3- Imperfect and Preterit- with mental process words such as creer, pensar, querer, etc. guided practice, independent practice, and oral practice with a partner. Lesson4- Preterit and imperfect in writing. The narrative versus forward action. Picture writing using both the preterit and imperfect.. Lesson5- Research in library/computer lab for project on Spanish speaking countries. Also field trip to UT Tyler Library to continue and expand research over. (3 days) Lesson6-Review of Chapter, Group study sessions to prepare for test. Evaluation-Test over review and chapter 2 information(imperfect/preterit/vocabulary). Lesson1- Vocabulary- Write/List vocabulary words and definitions, Make vocabulary flash cards, listen to and repeat vocabulary words, practice using vocabulary with in context of sentences. Lesson2- Future Tense- Two forms of conjugations- Regular and Irregular Verbs (2 days) Lesson3- Carta a Dios - Day 1- Individual reading of story while highlighting of preterit in green, imperfect in red, future in orange, vocabulary in blue, unknown words in yellow(in order to look them up). Break into groups and divide up story among the groups. Each group will try to translate their section of the story. Day 2- Whole class will read story together out loud and the groups will explain their section of the story as we come to it. Lesson4-Comparativo/Superlativo- Class discussion, Guided Practice, Individual practice Lesson5- Group work on project over Spanish speaking countries. Evaluation-Test over review and chapter 3+4 information (future tense/vocabulary).
