3 Exercise 2: What s the word? (4-5 minutes) Read the following dialog with your tutor and try to use context clues to fill in the blanks with the most appropriate word. You can find the missing word from the pool of words at the bottom. An applicant is inquiring about the job openings of the company Applicant: Good morning! May I inquire about the job openings of your company? Recruiter: Of course. We currently have an opening for marketing specialist. Applicant: What is the recruitment for the position? Recruiter: You can just send us your letter and resume through or you can bring it personally to our office. Applicant: I see. Is there anything else, Sir? 4 II. GRAMMAR REVIEW: Topic: Count Nouns and Non Count Nouns (5-6 minutes) General Description: A noun is a word that is used to name a person, animal, place, thing, or an idea. Count nouns are nouns that can be counted. On the other hand, Non Count nouns are nouns that cannot be counted. Count nouns officer officers company companies requirement requirements Non-count nouns leadership (no plural form) recruitment (no plural form) Water a glass of water Remember: Count nouns have a plural form. A singular count noun becomes plural, usually by adding s to the word. Non Count nouns do not have a plural form. To make it countable, a word before the noun is added. Examples: Count Nouns Non Count Nouns There were four applicants for the position. The manager needed two new team members. Flexibility is a requirement for the job.
