1 Note to all teachers of Spanish In order to better prepare our students to progress through the language, we must integrate more active language skills throughout levels 1 and 2, not just when they get to level 3 or Pre-AP 3. The recycling of concepts from chapter to chapter is helpful to review all major concepts studied. It is advisable to adapt many of these Pre-AP extension tasks to make them level 1 and 2 appropriate. It is essential that students develop reading, writing, listening and speaking skills in Spanish as much as possible in addition to learning the vocabulary and grammar objectives. Ideas / Resources Available Pocoyó, Dora la Exploradora, Handy Manny (children s cartoons in Spanish available on rtve.es, YouTube, and DVD) Journal Writing Compositions Free Reading with children s literature, simple cultural reading (edhelper.com, abcteach.com, cvc.cervantes.es, aprenderespanol.org, web.uvic.ca/hrd/span100/main_reading.htm, spanish.cl/reading.htm) Projects that include visual plus writing component, can include oral presentation to the class Spontaneous orals using picture prompts or teacher interview Quarter Spanish 3 Review and Chapter 1 Chapters 2 and 3 Finish chapter 3, chapter 4 Chapters 5, 6 PreAP 3 Chapters 1, 2 Chapters 3, 4 Chapters 5, 6 Chapters 7, 8 Note to teachers of Pre-AP 3- beyond the vocabulary topics and grammar skills listed in the pacing guide, the following activities must be integrated into instruction. Multiple activities and assessments from each active language skill should be completed in each chapter. These are core components of Pre-AP instruction that are necessary to prepare students for advanced courses.
