1 Issue 6 12th October 2018 Thought of the Week Respect The hardest job kids face today is learning good manners without seeing any - Fred Astaire Year 6 PGL Trip Last week our Year 6 children went on their Residential Trip to PGL in Bawdsey Manor. The children had a fantastic week at PGL challenging themselves (and the teachers) to overcome some of their fears. They fenced, became archers, swung high on the giant swing as well as building and testing their own rafts and buggies. The children excelled themselves physically and were a credit to the school. Well done for being so amazing and for making us all proud.

School Nurse If you have any health related issues that you would like to discuss with Claire Dell the school nurse you can contact her on Year 5 Girls Football Tournament On the 5th of October, year 5 girls went to a football competition at Mark Hall. There were eight other schools and every school played four matches each. St Luke's came third in their group, with seven points, narrowly missing out on qualification for the finals. Everyone from St Luke's had a fun afternoon, and did extremely well considering they faced teams full of year six children.

3 First Holy Communion First Holy Communion forms need to be returned to Mrs Bell by 1st November The enrolment evening is Friday 9th November at 6.30 pm in the Parish Hall at Holy Cross Church. Please bring 25 to cover the cost of the programme and the children's book. If your child was not baptised at either St Luke's or Holy Cross you will need to bring your child's baptism certificate. Year 3 and 4 Girls Football Tournament On Friday 5th October, a team of girls from year 3 and 4 went to Mark Hall Sport Centre to play football against other Harlow schools for a fun and team building exercise. All girls played to the best of their ability and everyone had a great time and received certificates for their efforts. Well done. 5 Foodbank Appeal We would like to thank everyone for the Foodbank donations we have received. Our Mini Vinnies will be delivering these at some point next week to the Harlow Foodbank. Drop in Speech and Language Clinics The speech therapy team are hold drop in clinics for parents, of pre-school aged children, who are concerned about their speech. The clinics will be held at First Floor Nuffield House Surgery The Stow Harlow CM20 3AU. Sessions will be held on Wednesday mornings between am on the following dates 7th November, 28th November, 19th December, 23rd January 13th February, 6th March, 27th March and 17th April. Thank you
