1 Pacing for Common Core This Pacing Guide is provided to help with planning as you implement the Common Core State with envisionmath 2009/2011. The guide indicates the for Mathematical Content that each lesson addresses and suggests pacing for each topic. Included in the guide are references to off-grade level of Mathematical Content to help you become familiar with the content shifts of Common Core. Additional lessons, indicated by a capital letter after the number, offer in-depth coverage of certain standards. These lessons, in addition to the lessons in envisionmath 2009/2011 provide complete coverage of all of the Common Core State for Grade 3. The suggested number of days for each topic is based on a 60-minute class period. The total of 160 days of instruction allows time for all of the lessons that address the Common Core State as well as some review and enrichment lessons. 4 Content to meet the Grade 3 Common Core State l Content from earlier years to review and practice s Content to prepare for future study or to enrich the curriculum Topic 1 Numeration 7 13 DAYS 1-1 Hundreds l Review 2.NBT Thousands s Prepares for 4.NBT Greater Numbers l Prepares for 3.NBT.1, 3.NBT Ways to Name Numbers s Prepares for 4.NBT.2 1-5A Understanding Number Lines 4 3.NBT.1 1-5B Counting on the Number Line 4 3.NBT Comparing Numbers 4 3.NBT Ordering Numbers 4 3.NBT Counting Money l Reviews 2.MD Making Change l Reviews 2.MD Problem Solving: Make an Organized List 4 3.NBT.1 Topic 2 Adding Whole Numbers DAYS 2-1 Addition Meaning and Properties 4 3.OA.9, 3.NBT Adding on a Hundred Chart 4 3.OA Using Mental Math to Add l Prepares for 3.NBT Rounding 4 3.NBT Estimating Sums l Prepares for 3.NBT.2 16 Transitioning to Common Core with envisionmath
