7 HOW HAVE WE BEEN DOING? Implemented New Ohio Learning Standards Focus on differentiation meet individual student needs and help students get at or above grade level. Use Title Funds to purchase additional intervention teachers in reading and math Use Title Funds for extended day reading tutoring with Envision Children District purchased Math website (Ascend Math) to support student numeracy Benchmark Challenge set goals from Winter to Spring Bringing Up Grades Awards

8 THIRD GRADE GUARANTEE This new state law requires 3rd graders to receive a score of 392 or better on the Reading Ohio Achievement Assessment or be retained in 3 rd grade next year. There are exceptions for some students with disabilities and some limited English proficient students.

9 THIRD GRADE GUARANTEE Students will now have 3 chances during the school year to pass the test or an equivalent test: October Fall Ohio Reading Achievement Assessment Tuesday, April 29 Spring Ohio Achievement Assessment Monday, May 5 Reading Terra Nova Test

10 THIRD GRADE GUARANTEE If your child gets the required score on either of the tests listed above, they will be eligible to go on to grade 4 next year. There will also be an additional administration of the OAA in the summer for students that may not have passed the 3 previous tests. Summer school will be offered to all 3 rd grade students that have not passed any of the tests.

18 COMMUNITY RELATIONS Central Office Staff and community members tutoring 3 rd grade students in Reading Greenhills/Forest Park Kiwanis Club gave all 3 rd grades the book Pinduli by Jenell Cannon District purchased Raz-Kids.com to give students access to guided reading books at their level

19 FUTURE GOALS To have all of our students at or above grade level in all content areas To receive at least a B in Value Added for all subgroups Increase our Performance Index to 95. Strengthen our use of technology to meet the individual needs of students. Reduce physical aggression and bullying incidents

Make sure your child is reading at least 20 minutes every night Read with them and ask them questions about what they read Encourage your child to use Raz-kids.com to practice reading at their level Make sure your child knows all of their basic addition, subtract facts Consider volunteering weekly as a mentor or tutor Please let us know about resources that may support our work from your local employer, church or organization
