1 HILLS-BEAVER CREEK ELEMENTARY Parent Connection March 29, 2018 NO SCHOOL FRIDAY, MARCH 30 AND MONDAY, APRIL 2 EASTER BREAK MCA Testing We are approaching the time of year for MCA testing. Students in grades 3-5 will take tests and we want to be sure that they are as well prepared as possible. We have taken some practice tests throughout the school year and have used the data to help meet individual needs. Over the next weeks we will continue to focus on reading and math skills that we will expect to see on the tests. The base of knowledge that we have developed throughout the year combined with some targeted learning provide our students with the best chance to succeed on the tests. Although we do not believe the tests are the only measure of student learning we do believe they provide valuable information about our teaching and learning. One important factor in the last weeks can be parent involvement. Please take time to reinforce the value of these assessments and help prepare students for the tests. More tips and resources can be found online at: End of the Year Calendar With snow days added to the end of the year calendar, the final half day for students will be on Wednesday, May 30. Students will also have a full day on Tuesday, May 29. The full revised calendar for the remainder of the school year has been attached to this newsletter.
