Involve me and I learn. At Tom Hawkins Elementary School, we greatly value engaging educational experiences inside and outside of the classroom. We know that children learn best through active involvement and activity. This week, our school will be embarking on a major fundraising effort to support our fieldtrip program. During the month of September, our goal is to collect $20 per child to go toward our school fieldtrip fund. Classes will be working as a team to meet this goal and we will be sharing our progress throughout the month. A letter will be going home with your child explaining the details of this fund drive. Teamwork makes the dream work! It will take a collective effort from all families in order to make these field trips a reality. We appreciate what our families do for the campus everyday and thank you for your support! This past Friday was Twin Day. It was so fun seeing the kids dressed up for this spirit day. Please see an assortment of pictures from around campus below. They looked awesome and put a lot of effort into the event! September 11th Picture packets options will be sent home this week with your students. Please remember to follow the dress code when picking out your outfit. ASB MEMBERSHIP ASB is working hard to plan fun dances, rallies, movie nights, and fun Fridays. In order to participate in these afterschool events, you will need to buy an ASB membership. All students, TK-8th are welcome to join.! The cost for a membership is $15. Individual dance and event tickets will NOT be sold, you must have an ASB Membership to attend the events.

2 Page 2 Volleyball Practice 5th Grade: Monday & 3:15-4:15pm We need 1-2 adult volunteers to help classes in the Star Lab Planetarium the week of Feb 8-12, 2016 (flexible hours/ days - 9 hours total volunteer). Plus help in star lab during science night Feb 10, pm. Free training: Tuesday, Sept 29, 4:30-6:30. GATE students have qualified through the OLSAT test, CST test, or through Portfolios. Come help learn about the GATE program at Tom Hawkins and provide input to shape the activities that are offered this school year. Please have students bring water bottles and sunscreen to keep them hydrated and healthy during outdoor practices.
