1 The 2015 Burke County Fair is scheduled Oct. 20th-24th at the Waynesboro Exchange Club Fairgrounds and local residents are urged to take part in the fair by entering the various competitive events. The following rules and regulations will be used in preparing entries. For more information, contact the Burke County Extension Service at or Richard Bailey at Please, take time to enter and enjoy the pleasure of a good old-fashioned county fair. 4-H MINI-EXHIBITS Mini-exhibits are open to any boy or girl (a maximum of 24 exhibits will be accepted). Make reservations with the County Extension Office. The exhibitor will furnish paper or fabric background. Crepe paper is not satisfactory. The size of the space is 22 inches wide, 28 inches high, and 18 inches deep. Prizes will be awarded in each of the following divisions: Cloverleaf - Grades 5 and 6 Junior - Grades 7 and 8 Senior - Grades 9 through 12 Prizes 1st Place... $ 25 2nd Place... $ 15 3rd Place... $ 10 Award of Merit... $ 5 1.All mini-exhibits must be completed by 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct.18 th. The building will be open Friday afternoon, all day Saturday and between 2-5 p.m. on Sunday (Oct.16 th -18 th ). 2. The exhibits will be judged on Monday, Oct. 19 th. No one but the judges and the fair committee will be allowed in the building during judging. The decision of the judges will be final. 3. All exhibits must be removed between 2:00-4:30 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 25 th. All premiums will be paid at that time. 4. The fair committee will not be responsible for loss or damage to any exhibit but will give care and attention to prevent loss or damage to any exhibit. 1

2 HOME ECONOMICS INDIVIDUAL EXHIBITS 1. Entry tags and sheets will be available in advance by request, at the fairgrounds Saturday, Oct. 17 th - or at the fairgrounds from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday. ALL EXHIBITS WILL BE RECEIVED ON SUNDAY, Oct. 18 th, FROM 2 to 5 p.m No exhibit will be received after 5 p.m. on Sunday, October 18 th. (Exception: Foods may be received Monday morning, Oct. 19 th, between 9-10 a.m.) ALL EXHIBITORS WITH MORE THAN TEN (10) ENTRIES ARE URGED TO COMPLETE THEIR ENTRY TAGS IN ADVANCE. 2. All exhibits will be judged on Monday, Oct. 19 th, beginning at 10 a.m. Decisions of judges will be final. Prize money will be available at pick-up time (Oct. 25 th ). 3. Ticket stubs must be presented by exhibitor to claim items exhibited. Exhibits must be removed (picked up) between 2:00 and 4:30.m. Sunday, Oct. 25 th. If you cannot pick up your exhibit, please make arrangements to have someone else pick it up for you. 4. Every precaution will be taken to protect all entries, but articles are entered at owner's risk. No security after Sunday, Oct. 25 th. 5. Exhibits must be completed by exhibitor during the 12 months preceding the fair. No items previously exhibited in the Burke County Fair may be entered. Only one entry per lot or class will be accepted from an exhibitor for competition. 6. An outstanding exhibitor award of $ 20 will be presented in each division (except Division I) to the exhibitor who earns the most points based on the following system: POINT SYSTEM 1st Place Ribbon... 6 points 2nd Place Ribbon... 4 points 3rd Place Ribbon... 2 points 7. Best of show ribbons and an award of $10 will be given for division 1-A and 1-B only - Also a ribbon for outstanding exhibitor (1-A & 1-B) and $ 10 to the participant with the most premium dollars. 2
