5 Making & Moderating Teacher Assessments at the end of Key Stage 1 To equip participants with the knowledge and understanding required to fulfil their statutory duty through an informed and robust approach to making accurate and consistent teacher assessments in line with national standards at end of Key Stage 1 and evidenced through normal classroom practice. A working knowledge of the Standards and Testing Agency (STA) statutory guidance and expectations related to final teacher assessment judgements for English reading, writing and mathematics including external moderation A professional development opportunity to discuss judgements on pupil performance based on ongoing teaching and learning opportunities across the curriculum against the requirements of the statutory frameworks and the related national curriculum programmes of study An understanding of the statutory requirements for valid and accurate teacher assessment (TA) judgements including what constitutes appropriate evidence of pupil performance to inform robust assessment processes. Year 2 teachers, Maths, English and Assessment leads. **Please Note** delegates are asked to bring with them a set of on-going evidence for peer moderation and review which represents the work of a child/children who are working at the expected standard in reading, writing and mathematics. 14 Phonics: Year 1 Screening Check administering the check To support schools in preparing to administer the phonics screening check appropriately. Explored an overview of the phonics check content and expectations Been supported to know how to administer the phonics check in line with statutory guidance Increased subject knowledge and understanding of quality systematic phonics and application across the curriculum. 15 EYFS Moderation Training This half day session will enable participants to develop their understanding of assessment in EYFS and includes standardisation and moderation activities using the national Exemplification materials produced by the STA. The Early Learning Goal focus for the 2017/18 Academic Year is likely to be Physical Development, Understanding the World and Expressive Arts and Design. Key information relating to the EYFS Profile and the Moderation Process Developed their understanding of the content of EYFS Exemplification materials Opportunities to carry out standardisation and moderation tasks for selected Prime and Specific Areas of Learning in relation to the ELGs Opportunity to explore practice and provision to support observational assessment. EYFS Practitioners (Teachers and TAs in Nursery and Reception), EYFS Leaders, Reception and Year 1 Teachers, Assessment Leaders. 16 Prices & Course Information Course Costs - Centre-Based Courses Unless otherwise indicated, delegate fees for centre based courses are as follows: Half Day Course One Full Day Course One and a half day course 380 Two day course 500 All bookings for courses can be made by visiting our website In-school / Setting-based training Tailored sessions can be delivered in-house for whole staff or specific staff groups. Sessions can be full or half day, or twilight in duration. To discuss an in-school session please contact the listed adviser. Centre-based Training Venues & Facilities Dates, venues, and timings for the centre-based delivery of the professional development opportunities listed in this prospectus are as we expect them to be at the time of printing. Any changes to these will be updated on the website and delegates will be informed accordingly. Where course details and venues are still to be confirmed, information will be provided as soon as they are available and participants will be notified as part of the booking confirmations. 16

17 Regular venues for training include: Unit 3, Holt Street, Birmingham Science Park Birmingham City Football Club, St. Andrews Stadium, Cattell Road, Birmingham B9 4RL Refreshments are provided for all courses Lunch is provided for full-day courses, so please remember to advise of any dietary requirements. Training Course Guarantee All centre-based courses require a minimum of 5 participants to run as scheduled. If this number is not reached by 10 working days before the course date, then the session will be rescheduled, or may have to be cancelled. If the new date is not suitable then you will be offered, where possible, one-to-one consultancy at the regular course price. For a one-day course you will be offered half-day consultancy. For a half-day course you will be offered a twilight consultancy. For some courses, due to specific requirements, only a place on another course can be offered. This includes Safer Recruitment, Safeguarding for DSL including refresher, Safeguarding for Headteachers, Food Safety including refresher, Statutory Assessment Training, including briefings, courses and Intervention programmes. 17

18 18 Terms & Conditions of Business SUBMISSIONS AND ACCEPTANCE OF APPLICATIONS 1.1 All bookings must be received 10 working days prior to the start of the course. We cannot guarantee a confirmation after this date 1.2 Bookings are processed on a first come first served basis and Services for Education cannot guarantee places for late bookings 1.3 To check late availability of places required at short notice (less than 5 working days before the event) please contact the service directly by phone or 1.4 Applicants will receive confirmation of bookings and event details by . 2.CANCELLATION BY THE APPLICANT 2.1 Any cancellations must be confirmed in writing by ing: schoolsupport@servicesforeducation.co.uk 2.2 Written cancellations made less than 4 weeks, but no less than 2 weeks, before the agreed date of the training will remain liable for 50% of the invoice amount. Written cancellations made less than 2 weeks before the date of the training will not be entitled to any refund 2.3 Non-attendance on the day will incur a charge of 100% of the course fee per delegate. 3.CANCELLATION BY SERVICES FOR EDUCATION 3.1 Services for Education reserves the right to amend or cancel should it, for whatever reason, be unable to deliver the advertised event. In these circumstances Services for Education will endeavour to provide adequate notice. A full refund will be given to delegates in the event of cancellation 3.2 In the event of a school based session needing to be cancelled Services for Education will endeavour to provide adequate notice and to reschedule the session as soon as feasible.
