5 Electronic Devices The Temple ISD policy and the Student Code of Conduct allow students to carry cellular phones or other electronic communication devices during the school day. All personal devices must remain turned off and out of sight while students are in class, including during all testing, unless the student has received prior approval from the teacher for instructional purposes. Improper use of a cellular phone or other electronic communication devices during the school day will result in the item being confiscated and a charge of $ Dress Code Students are required to use good judgment, to respect themselves and others, and to demonstrate modesty. Temple ISD does not permit clothing with pictures, emblems, or writing that is lewd, offensive, vulgar, or obscene or that advertises or depicts tobacco products, alcoholic beverages, drugs, or any other substance that students are prohibited from having or using at school. All clothing should be appropriate to the student s age, the school setting, and weather conditions. To view the entire Student Dress and Grooming Code, please consult the Student Handbook. Bullying Prevention Bullying is not tolerated by Temple ISD and any student or parent of a student who believes that their student or another student has experienced bullying or that a student has engaged in bullying is encouraged to immediately report the incident. You can report bullying to your teacher, counselor or principal. You can also anonymously report bullying at Temple ISD takes all reports of bullying seriously, and investigates every instance we re made aware of. Some general guidelines to assist students and parents with Back to School Shopping: Pants must fit at the waist and be the appropriate size for the student. Skirts and shorts should reach to the top of the knee when standing. All shirts must have sleeves that cover the shoulders. Shoes with wheels (heelies) are not permitted. Flip Flops are not permitted. Clothing may not have visible holes (by design distressed or wear) above the knee. Student Identification Student ID cards (Secondary Only) must be presented when requested by any administrator, teacher, school employee, or law enforcement officer, while at school or upon entering a school-sponsored event on a student ticket. Failure to produce an ID when requested may result in disciplinary action per the Student Code of Conduct. ID s will be printed with a bar code. The ID bar code is necessary for use in checking out library books and in the purchase of food in the cafeteria. One ID card is provided at no charge to the student. ID cards are the property of the school and will be turned in when a student transfers or withdraws from school. If the ID card has come apart or has been mutilated, defaced, or altered in any way, it is no longer valid and must be replaced. If a student loses the card, the student should immediately notify the main office. The cost for replacement of the ID card is $5. 6 School Nutrition Meal Prices Elementary Breakfast $1.20 Lunch $2.40 Elementary Reduced Breakfast $0.30 Lunch $0.40 Secondary Breakfast $1.40 Lunch $2.55 Secondary Reduced Breakfast $0.30 Lunch $0.40 Adult/Guest Breakfast $2.00 Lunch $3.60 Free and Reduced Meal Program & Benefits A new meal benefits application must be submitted each school year for those interested in the free and reduced meal program. Only one application is needed for each household, unless the application is for a run away, homeless or migrant student. Students are eligible to receive meal benefits on last year s status only until Wednesday, October 10, As of October 11th students without an approved application on file will no longer qualify for the free/reduced priced meal program and will go to a full paid status. Meal Payments Options Payments may be made at each campus cafeteria. Online prepayment system available on for parents to make pre-payments to student meal and snack accounts. Parents can view balances and purchase history. Meal Charge Policy Elementary Students may charge up to a maximum of three days. Middle School Student may charge a maximum of one day. High School & Alternative Sites Student may charge a maximum of one day. Transportation For real-time transportation updates follow us on Twitter Who May Ride the Special needs children when required by the ARD. Children who reside one or more miles from their school. Students in the Bilingual Program who live one or more miles from their school. Parents of eligible students (one or more miles from school) may choose to have their child picked up or dropped off at a licensed childcare facility as long as the facility is within the boundary of your neighborhood school. Students will not be transported to a childcare facility outside of that boundary. How do I sign up for transportation? Sign up at your child s school after August 7. Processing a new transportation request may take up to 48 hours. Beginning the 2nd week of August the Transportation Services Center will begin to publish 2017/2018 routing information. At that time you may call your child s campus to confirm transportation is set up for your student. WHAT HAPPENS IF MY CHILD MISSES THE BUS or GETS ON THE WRONG BUS? During the first week of school, Temple ISD Transportation operates a Misrouted Student Center at the bus barn. Alternate transportation will be provided or parents can pick up their students at 919 N. 31st Street, just north of Temple High School. (TISD School Nutrition will provide a snack for students while they wait.) ELL Attendance Zones The District has established a attendance zones for English Language Learners (ELL). All ELL students are required to attend the campus within their zone. Anyone who chooses to attend a campus outside of that zone will not be eligible for Transportation services.

7 Every student at Temple High School has their own Chromebook. If you missed Chromebook pick-up the first week in August, students may come by the TechSpot at THS on Thursday, August 24th or Friday, August 25th between 8:30am - 4:00pm. Chromebooks will be issued to students provided that the following qualifications are met: Technology 1. Parents and students must agree to Temple ISD s acceptable use policy (see student handbook). 2. Annual insurance for the device must be paid. Coverage fees for 9th, 10th, and 11th graders is $25. Payment for 12th graders is $15. You may pay with credit or debit card online at bit.ly/pay- 4chromebook or with cash, check or money order during pick-up. 3. All high school students must have their Chromebook by September 11th. If you have any questions, please contact the Technology Department at , or head to and click on TechnoIogy under the Academics tab at the top of the page Texas Minimum State Vaccine Requirements for Students Grades K - 12 This chart summarizes the vaccine requirements incorporated in the Texas Administrative Code (TAC), Title 25 Health Services, This document is not intended as a substitute for the TAC, which has other provisions and details. The Department of State Health Services (DSHS) is granted authority to set immunization requirements by the Texas Education Code, Chapter 38. IMMUNIZATION REQUIREMENTS A student shall show acceptable evidence of vaccination prior to entry, attendance, or transfer to a child-care facility or public or private elementary or secondary school in Texas. Vaccine Required (Attention to notes and footnotes) Diphtheria/Tetanus/Pertussis (DTaP/DTP/DT/Td/Tdap) 1 Polio 1 Measles, Mumps, and Rubella 1, 2 (MMR) Hepatitis B 2 1, 2, 3 The Varicella Meningococcal 1 (MCV4) Hepatitis A 1, 2 Minimum Number of Doses Required by Grade Level Grades K - 6th Grade 7th Grades 8th - 12th K doses or 4 doses 3 dose primary series and 1 Tdap / Td booster within the last 5 years 4 doses or 3 doses 2 doses 2 doses 3 doses 2 doses 3 dose primary series and 1 Tdap / Td booster within the last 10 years 1 dose NOTE: Shaded area indicates that the vaccine is not required for the respective age group. 1 Receipt of the dose up to (and including) 4 days before the birthday will satisfy the school entry immunization requirement. 2 Notes For K 6 th grade: 5 doses of diphtheria-tetanus-pertussis vaccine; 1 dose must have been received on or after the 4 th birthday. However, 4 doses meet the requirement if the 4th dose was received on or after the 4 th birthday. For students aged 7 years and older, 3 doses meet the requirement if 1 dose was received on or after the 4th birthday. For 7 th grade: 1 dose of Tdap is required if at least 5 years have passed since the last dose of tetanus-containing vaccine. For 8 th 12 th grade: 1 dose of Tdap is required when 10 years have passed since the last dose of tetanus-containing vaccine. Td is acceptable in place of Tdap if a medical contraindication to pertussis exists. For K 12 th grade: 4 doses of polio; 1 dose must be received on or after the 4 th birthday. However, 3 doses meet the requirement if the 3 rd dose was received on or after the 4 th birthday. For K 12 th grade: 2 doses are required, with the 1 st dose received on or after the 1 st birthday. Students vaccinated prior to 2009 with 2 doses of measles and one dose each of rubella and mumps satisfy this requirement. For students aged years, 2 doses meet the requirement if adult hepatitis B vaccine (Recombivax ) was received. Dosage (10 mcg /1.0 ml) and type of vaccine (Recombivax ) must be clearly documented. If Recombivax was not the vaccine received, a 3-dose series is required. 1 st dose of varicella must be received on or after the 1 st birthday. For K 12 th grade: 2 doses are required. For 7 th 12 th grade, 1 dose of quadrivalent meningococcal conjugate vaccine is required on or after the student s 11 th birthday. Note: If a student received the vaccine at 10 years of age, this will satisfy the requirement. The 1st dose of hepatitis A must be received on or after the 1 st birthday. For K 8 th grade: 2 doses are required. 3 Previous illness may be documented with a written statement from a physician, school nurse, or the child s parent or guardian containing wording such as: This is to verify that (name of student) had varicella disease (chickenpox) on or about (date) and does not need varicella vaccine. This written statement will be acceptable in place of any and all varicella vaccine doses required.

8 Parent Portal Go to Click the Family Access box Log in to Family Access Parents and guardians of Temple ISD students can access information about their child(ren) online through Family Access. Family Access is a secure web service that allows the user to view attendance, grades, assignments, vaccinations, schedules, and more. Students can log onto Family Access with their Temple ISD login and password. Family Access is provided by Temple ISD as a free service and will be available to all parents with children enrolled in the district.
