4 Kansas leads the world in the success of each student.

5 The vision set by the Kansas State Board of Education states that a successful Kansas High School Graduate has the academic preparation, cognitive preparation, technical skills, employability skills and civic engagement to be successful in postsecondary education, in the attainment of an industry recognized certification or in the workforce, without the need for remediation.

6 In order to achieve this for every student, there have been five outcomes identified for measuring progress: Kindergarten readiness Individual Plans of Study focused on career interest High school graduation rates Postsecondary completion/attendance Social/emotional growth measured locally

9 Shrinking the Assessment Summative Footprint For purposes of estimating assessment time, the Kansas State Department of Education calculates one session as 45 to 60 minutes. 22 2017 Lexile and Quantile Reports A Lexile measure represents both a student s reading ability and the difficulty of a text, such as a book or magazine article. Quantile measure represents both a student s mathematical achievement and the difficulty of a mathematical skill or concept. Linked to state assessment scores the metrics can help parents and educators find leveled materials for students.

23 2017 ISTATION The Kansas Reading Success Initiative provides free and unlimited use of the Istation Reading Program grades PreK 8 th both at school and at home. Goal is to have every child meet their full reading potential. Engage children to learn to read & read to learn!

24 2018 and Beyond The Kansas College & Career Ready Standards in math and ELA are currently under review. Anticipated recommendations will be presented to the Kansas State Board of Education sometime during the fall of NO assessment changes are anticipated for the test administration.
