Presentations May 19: Balance of 8th grade field trip money due May 22: EC Golf Outing May 29: Memorial Day - no school May 30-31: 8th grade field trip to Philadelphia and Gettysburg, PA May 31: 6th grade Clearwater sailing field trip It s hard to believe that it is already May! This time of year comes quickly, and will also pass quickly. There will be many events over the next several weeks, culminating with our Middle School Graduation on the evening of June 15. With all of the activity that will happen over these next weeks, it will be easy to become task-focused, moving from activity to activity without much reflection. However, it is now more than ever that we need to give our best effort to finish strong, keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus - the pioneer and perfecter our faith. Our Spring MAP testing will begin on Monday, May 8. In general, 7th & 8th grades will be testing on Mondays and Wednesdays, and 5th & 6th grades will be testing on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Scores will be mailed with each student s final report card at the end of the school year. The MAP tests, short for Measures of Academic Progress, are an excellent way for us to see how each child has changed (progressed) over the course of the year. They provide specific information about each student, and allow our teachers to continue to plan their instruction now and for the future. These tests have no bearing on a student s grades, but do allow us to see where they have grown. One other point of note is a second student-led worship night which will be held on May 19. The first worship night included about 25 students in a time of prayer, praise, and encouragement. Students shared testimonies with one another, and went away with a new sense of community and commitment to follow Christ. In fact, several of our student who participated have asked for a second night, and our 7th & 8th grade small group leaders have responded by organizing this second evening. There will be some food served from 5:15-6:00PM, and then a time of worship from 6:00-7:00PM. If your child would like to attend, be sure that they let us know by completing the RSVP form that will be sent home. Grace and Peace, Dan Lazor, Principal

2 MIDDLE SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS 8th grade parents: The balance of $150 for the Philadelphia/Gettysburg field trip is due by May 19. Opportunity to earn Service Hours - many students still need them!! Still time to sign up! ECMS will be maintaining the Pit Stop (SWAG/Souvenir) tent at the Touch-a-Truck event tomorrow. Volunteers are needed between 9:AM and 4:PM (You choose the hour(s) you can help) to set-up, sell, and break down the Pit Stop. You can sign-up on Sign-up Genius or Lynda Vincenti ( lyndavincenti@hotmail.com ) if you don't have the Sign-up Genius invite. FOUNDATION NEWS: Touch a Truck is tomorrow on Saturday, May 6 at 11 a.m. Volunteers are still welcome! Tickets are required - Get your Tickets now! Golf Outing - Monday May 22nd Spots are filling up! Join your community in supporting EC at a great event. Register online for your twosome, foursome and/or sponsorship now! COMMUNITY ANNOUNCEMENTS: Please look below for information about the Midland Park Fall Soccer program and the upcoming Wyckoff Memorial Day Parade Bike Contest. TRIP INFORMATION: The TRIP program no longer maintains an inventory of gift cards. Orders need to be placed one week before the cards are needed with payment made at the time the order is placed. Orders will be due on Thursdays (instead of Monday) and will be sent home with students on the following Thursday. We encourage you to switch to online ordering, using payment directly from your bank account (Electronic Fund Transfer) which costs only.15 cents per order. If you would like help with ordering online, call the TRIP office to set-up your account and learn the ordering process.
