4 Working with Equivalent Fractions Practice 2 Equivalent fractions describe the same amount or the same area, but they are expressed in a different number of pieces or parts. 5 Reducing Fractions to Lowest Terms/Greatest Common Factor (GCF) Practice 3 Fractions are in their lowest terms when no factor greater than 1 will divide evenly into both the numerator and the denominator. Examples: 2, 7 10, 2 7, 3 8 All fractions with 1 as the numerator and all fractions where the numerator is 1 less than the denominator are in lowest terms. Examples: 1 2, 1 3, 3 4, 7 8 To reduce fractions, find the greatest common factor (GCF). Divide the numerator and the denominator by the greatest common factor.
