3 September 23, 2010 School and District Results Page 3 MESSAGES P = Primary (Grade 3) = Grades 4 through 12. GRADE TITLE I STATUS Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) consequences are calculated based on the school and district s Title I classification for the school year. STATE ASSISTANCE FOR NON-TITLE I SCHOOLS Senate Bill 1, signed into law in March 2009, requires state accountability for Non-Title I schools. If a non-title I school does not make AYP in the same content area for two consecutive years, the school will be eligible for state assistance. The description Eligible for State Assistance will appear in the Consequences table, School Status column, followed by the number 1 or 2 indicating the number of years eligible. EXPLANATION OF NOTES j = Joint school. School(s) have been combined with another school for accountability purposes because the school does not have a standard grade configuration (i.e. 3-5, 6-8, or 9-12). n = School or district experienced a natural disaster that impacted reporting of data. r = School is considered a new or reconfigured school in and the student population is reconstituted for calculation of accountability scores. s = School is considered a reconfigured school in NCLB consequences reported in 2010 do not apply to the reconfigured school during school year t = School engaged in restaffing option under House Bill (HB) 176 (turnaround school under NCLB). This legislation, enacted in 2010 Kentucky General Assembly, defines persistently low-achieving schools and intervention options. School restaffing option requires a researchbased school improvement plan of action to turn around student performance and after an audit is conducted may replace the principal, school-based decision making council, and 50% of staff and faculty. w = State Board approved school configuration waiver for calculation of accountability scores. x = School has closed for school year NCLB consequences do not apply to this school in school year SCHOOL CONSEQUENCES School Improvement Yr 1 of Consequences (2 years not making AYP): Notify parents, implement school choice, and revise school improvement plan.
