1 21 December 2017 Dear Parent/Guardian Re: Year 11 Holiday Work With 15 School days left until your child takes their Pre-Public Examinations and only 60 School days until the start of May and the commencement of GCSE s, it is vitally important that your child completes a timetable of revision/work over the holidays. The well-being of your child is important to us, I informed Year 11 in our last assembly to relax for the first three days of their holiday after a long, hard term but to not switch off longer than this (if your child is celebrating Christmas, they should count this as one of their three days). Yesterday, your child should have completed a Holiday Revision Timetable, where they have structured their time of approximately one or two hours a day to spend on work. If a copy of the timetable is displayed on the fridge, you will know what your child should be revising. If your child completes two hours of revision on the fourteen days of the holiday from 24th/25 th December, that would be 28 hours completed, or five and a half school days. I have attached the template to the last two pages of this letter so that you can support your child, if needed. Please find work from each subject that has been set for the holidays on the following pages. Teachers and Departments have worked hard in order to ensure students have packs and information in advance where possible. Normal destinations, with whom? Previous holiday,journey, problems, accommodation, day & evening activities, weather, opinions, future holiday plans,dream holiday, type of holidays you enjoy. Local area...description of town & amenities,advantages/disadvantages, tourist attractions,last week, how would you improve your area, future living location, attitude to the environment. Christianity CGP tasks. Sociology Students are to RAG their understanding of each topic using the PLCs. They have access to revision powerpoints/booklets which will aid their practice of content. Students also have access to past paper questions that they will need to attempt to apply their knowledge. Students to bring in at least 4 exam style questions that they have attempted. Assess how familiar you are with each topic and focus on your weak areas. Take breaks, do short (45 minute) sessions often and include fun stuff / rewards that way you are more likely to stick to your timetable.
