How do I complete Protecting God s Children 5 year Renewal Video 3.0?

1 Welcome to the Diocese of Davenport. You have agreed to be clergy, teacher, coach, employee, volunteer or host parent in our diocese. We require all clergy, teachers, coaches, employees, host parents and those volunteers that have unsupervised contact with children to complete our Protecting God s Children program and have a background check processed for themselves. The Protecting God s Children program is issued through VIRTUS Online The Safe Environment Coordinator and/or Local Designee at the school/parish are authorized to view the account you establish for yourself in Virtus to ensure you stay in compliance with diocesan policy. The video website is compatible with all major browsers in the following versions. IPad and IPhone are NOT compatible. Pop Ups need to be allowed! Browser Firefox Chrome Safari Opera Version 17.0 and above 23.0 and above 5.1 and above 12.0 and above Please follow the instructions and print screens below to help you complete the video process. If you come from another diocese that uses VIRTUS we can try to transfer your Protecting God s Children training from there to here, but you are still REQUIRED to process a new background check and agree to our policies for our diocese. Please contact your local designee to see what is required of you. Please allow enough time with no interruptions in order to complete this successfully - approximately 90 minutes for the video and approximately 30 minutes for the background check. The time for processing also depends on your internet connection. 1

2 To begin go to the website: You need to login with your user id and password since you already have an account. Then click login. If you forgot your user id or password, please contact the local designee at your parish/school. 2

3 This will be the 1 st screen that you see when you log into your account. You can access the background check link here also. You need to click on the training tab to access the required video. 3

4 On the training tab you will see this link, Click on this link that will have a green circle with white check mark in it, this is the link that will open the required video. You have to allow pop ups for the video to start. It takes approximately 90 minutes and is interactive so you have to answer questions and watch video. *even if this shows up as past due, etc. you can still click on the link and you can complete the video training. Click Here to Start by doing so you will activate the video. There are 12 lessons which include questions and video, it is interactive so you have to answer the questions correctly before it advances. It takes approximately 50 minutes depending how long it takes you to read the questions and answer the questions. 4

6 This is what the 3 rd screen looks like, the video will start and a lady will start talking. After you have completed the 12 lessons approx. 50 minutes You can either print your certificate or close the window. If you want to print your certificate the program will ask you where you want to save it like your desktop. 6

7 You will receive 2 s: One from VIRTUS and one from ESR. This is going to come from VIRTUS and give you the user id and password you set up. It is case sensitive so make sure you keep this in a place you can find it later. 7
