3 My Philosophy as an Educator Important for schools to imbue Joy of Learning to develop intrinsic motivation in learning (Joy of Learning is seen in three important strands: Structured learning (How learning is designed and managed in structured school processes such as curriculum time both academic and non academic domains) Unstructured learning (How learning is designed in unstructured learning structures or through play such as scaling traverse walls, walking through our Eco Gardens, Interactive learning spaces or through recess time play) The tone of the school environment (care and concern and safety is paramount)

With the avalanche of new products, new technologies and new ways of working, workers are going to have to become more creative in order to benefit from these changes

15 Examination Policies Pupils who are not well will NOT be allowed to sit for the examination even if they turn up in school. Parents will be asked to take them home. The school will consider the examination results of pupils who sit for their written examination papers while on Medical Leave null and void. There will be no re-tests for pupils who are absent from any written component(s)/ paper(s) during the examination. A copy of the examination paper(s) missed (except Oral & Listening Comprehension Papers) will be given to them for reference/ practice at home

19 Subject Based Banding In line with the principle of Student-Centricity Provide more flexibility for students to take subjects at different levels depending on their aptitudes and abilities Allow students with uneven abilities the option of offering either their stronger subjects at standard level, or their weaker subjects at foundation level.

20 Guiding Principles of SBB Premised on ability-driven education Provide students with strong foundation in literacy and numeracy for successful progression (enhance employability & capacity for lifelong learning)

21 Implementation of SBB [At the End of P5] Student who takes 1 or more foundation subject(s) and does very well in them School may allow him to upgrade 1 or 2 subjects to standard level or continue the same subject combination in P6 Student takes subject combination decided by school Student sits for PSLE [At P6] [At the End of P6]

24 Promotion Criteria to P6 Parental options are given the initial point of the end of P4 After Option Form has been signed, only appeals to drop Higher Mother Tongue will be considered in 2017 Promotion to various P6 programmes is strictly based on promotion criteria Criteria to continue offering P6 HMT: Competencies, capabilities and interest in the subject

25 What is PSLE PSLE is a placement examination. Purpose of the PSLE is to: Assess pupils suitability for secondary education. Place them in one of the appropriate secondary school courses, which match their learning pace, ability and inclination. Narrow Definition of Success.

28 How PSLE T(Transformed) SCORE is calculated It gives the relative position of a pupil s performance as compared to the performance of all the other pupils in that subject. The raw mark obtained in the exam only shows how good the pupil is in that subject, not how good he is as compared to others

29 How PSLE T SCORE is calculated where X: pupil s mark for the subject Y: average mark (mean) scored by all pupils Z: spread of marks around the average mark (standard deviation) (X - Y) T = Z

30 How PSLE T SCORE is calculated (E.g. Maths) Pupil s mark (X) in exam = 50.0 Average or Mean mark (Y) scored by all pupils = 68.0 Spread of marks or Standard Deviation (Z) around the average mark (Y) = 14.0 PSLE T Score is attained by adding the T-Scores of the 4 subjects

32 Direct School Admission Allows for a more diverse range of student achievements and talents to be recognised: Under DSA, schools may admit students using criteria other than PSLE results Each school has its own merit-based academic and non-academic criteria for selection Based on qualities such as talent in science, music or sports DSA-Sec Exercise takes place before Sec 1 Posting Exercise (late Jun Aug)

The cash collected will be donated to a charity organization which will be visiting school on CNY Celebration Day. Every year, each old folk will receive an "ang pow" and remainder will be donated straight to the charity centre. A donation box will be placed on the table. Thank you for your generous donations.
