13 6th Grade World History Summer Writing Topics This is the Social Studies/Writing section of the Summer Packet. This section of the Summer Packet will be the first recorded grade for Social Studies Class. Successful completion of every single question will equate to a 100% grade. Each question that is not complete, or properly answered, will be a 10% deduction from the overall score. For each question, Please answer in 3-5 sentences. Before answering each question, consider the 5 W's; that is, Who, What, Where, When, Why. Also, many of these questions are based on your personal experiences or your personal opinions. For that reason, giving a personal example is a great way to support your answer. Please put your thought, emotion, and effort into these questions, as they are the first impression you will make entering the new school year.
14 1. Describe a situation when somebody was mean to you or another person. How did it make you feel? Why do you think that person was mean? How do you think they felt? 2. Think of a moment in history when a person, or a group of people, were treated unequally. Describe how this inequality made you feel? Please use either the 5 W's to describe a moment in history, or use an experience of yours or somebody you know. 3. Describe a time that you learned from a mistake you had made in the past. What was the mistake? How did you learn from it? Please include the 5 Ws in describing the situation. 4. What does it mean to have power? Who has power in our school? Who has power in our country? Who has power in our world? 5. Why do people live by a code of rules and laws? What do you think the world would be like without any rules or laws? Is it ever okay to break the law? When and Why? 6. Why do people have war? Can you describe a war that has occurred throughout history? Use the 5 Ws to describe that war. Are there any positive effects of war? Are there any negative effects? 7. How has the world changed over time? How do you think the world will change in the future? Are these changes always good? Can you describe a few changes over time that were positive? Can you describe a few that were negative? 8. How do you think technology has changed your daily life? How do you think technology had changed the world? How do you think technology will change the future? 9. You are about to enter 6th grade World History. As the class title indicates, you will be learning about the people, places, and events that have made up our world's history. This is your opportunity to tell me anything that you would like to learn more about, learn for the first time, or questions you may have about the world. Please use this space to write out your th oughts.
