If there are more than one thing, we usually add s at the end of nouns. Say the plural form of each animal in the box and have students repeat after you. Point out that we use Is it? for singular nouns and Are they? for plural nouns. Explain that isn t is a short form of is not and aren t is a short form of are not. Play Audio Track 23. No, they aren t. isn t = is not aren t = are not pigs cows horses chickens goats ducks Animal Riddles Describe animals and have students guess in the sentence patterns. The first student who says the correct answer gets a point. pig: It s pink. It says oink. It can give us ham and bacon. cow: It s black and white. It says moo. It can give us milk and beef. horse: It s brown. It says neigh. It can run fast. chicken: It says cluck in the morning. It can give us eggs and meat. goat: It has various colors. It says bleat. It can give us milk and meat. duck: It s a bird. It says quack. It can float on the water. It can give us eggs and meat. What s My Card? Have students work in pairs. Have each student pick up a card and attach the card to his/her partner s back. Have students show their backs to each other. They take turns asking, Is it? to find out what card is on their backs. When the answer is, Yes, it is, have the partner take off the card and give it to the owner. When the answer is, No it isn t, have them switch roles and ask. The student who gets more cards wins. Say, Is it? or Are they? pointing to a random picture. If the question matches with the picture, have students say, Yes, it is. or Yes, they are. If not, have students say, No, it isn t. or No, they aren t. Invite students to the board and have them ask questions pointing to the cards. Word Web Draw a word web on the board. Encourage students to think of farm animals they ve learned. After saying the animals, explain characteristics of each animal and elicit students guess the animal using the sentence patterns. Let s circle the goat in Picture B. As Teacher Says Give each student a paper cup and 2 pieces of candy. Have students place the candy as the teacher instructs. Gradually speed up and slow down. T: Put the candy in the cup. Where s the candy? S: It s in the cup. As Teacher Says Scavenger Hunt Hide the singular and plural picture cards around the classroom. Have students listen, find, and bring the correct card as the teacher instructs. Ask, Where is/are? and have them answer using the sentence pattern. The student who finds the most cards wins. Show students a singular or plural animal picture card and put it in, on, under, or behind a box. Ask them where the animals are. T: Where s the horse (putting the horse card under the box)? Ss: It s under the box. T: Where are the ducks (putting the duck card on the box)? Ss: They re on the box. Have students look at page 21 of the Student Book. Ask where each animal is. Repeat for plural animals. Picture Talk Have students look at the pictures and talk about what they see. What do you see? What are the animals doing? What animals do you see? Where are the horses? Where are the pigs? Can you guess what happens in the end? B Look and check ( ). Read the directions together. Have students look at picture 1 and read the sentences together. Look at picture 1! What do you see? Let s read the sentence next to the picture. Is it a chicken? Have them check the correct sentence in the box. Have students solve number 2 and check the correct sentence in the box individually. Check the answer together. C Look and circle. Read the directions together. Point to the first picture and ask, Where are the pigs? Have students answer and circle the correct preposition together. They re sitting under the trees. So, let s circle under. Have students solve number 2 and circle the correct preposition on their own. Check the answer together. D Look and number in order. Read the directions together. Have students look at the pictures and write the numbers in order. Check if the students have written the numbers in the correct order. Which picture should be first? Story Scramble Divide the class into groups. Prepare some copies of the story page and cut the lines into strips. Give them to each group. Have each group arrange the strips in the correct order within a time limit. The first group to complete the story and read it correctly wins. Musical Movements Play the English Bus theme song. Have students stand behind their chairs and dance to the music. Pause the music and give instructions using prepositions of place. Students who don t follow the directions correctly are out. The student who stays last wins. Everybody, put your hands on the chair! Put your foot under the chair! Sit in the chair! Story Scramble A Listen and read. Then act it out. Play Audio Track 30. Have students listen and read silently. Replay the audio and have students listen and repeat. Pause after each sentence so that students can follow. 30 Goat: Is it a chicken? Cow: No, it isn t. Show each frame in random order and have students guess the missing words for the blank by acting it out. If the group acts out the scene incorrectly, the other group gets a chance. Have students write the missing words for the blank on a piece of paper and raise them above their heads. Reviewing the Chant Write the chant lyrics on the board. Erase some target words and prepositions. Have students come to the board and fill in the blanks with new words. Play the instrumental version (TG Track 52). Encourage them to chant with the new lyrics. Assessment Evaluate if students understand the target words, sentence patterns, grammar points, and story. Use Unit Test 2 at the back of the Teacher s Guide. Reviewing the Chant Missing Words Flash Card 1, 2, 3! Show each picture card while saying the words. Have students repeat the words. Then show the cards again and have students say the correct words promptly after you say 1, 2, 3! Unit Test 2 A Play a game. Divide the class into 2 groups. Have each group member play Rock-Paper-Scissors to move its marker. The winning group moves its marker 3 spaces while the other group move its marker 1 space. After G1 moves its marker, have S1 and S2 of G1 ask and answer questions using the pictures on the spaces. If they perform the dialogue correctly, the marker stays on the space. If not, the marker returns to the prior space. The first group to reach Finish wins. Use the printable board game template from the TG. 36 UNIT 2 37

Review each word showing the corresponding picture card one by one. Have students repeat after you. Look at this picture card. What s she wearing? How does she feel? Point to each target word and ask what it is. Help students find the medal stickers at the back of the Student Book. Tell student that they have finished Unit 1 and 2. Have students put one of the stickers in their book. Making a Storybook Hand out copies of the story pictures and story strips to students. Have them cut the story pictures along the dotted lines and fold on the solid lines. Then, have students put the pages in the correct order, line up all of the pages neatly, and staple along left edge. Help students cut the lines into strips and glue them to the correct speech bubbles. Have students fill in the speech bubbles and make their own storybook. Review Test 1 Play Audio Track 32.
