2 2 Course guide Year COURSE GUIDE TO THEORY OF SOCIETY FIELD: Social Policy 18 Subject: 6 Type of learning: Basic Teacher: MARÍA JESÚS BERLANGA ADELL SUBJECT ORGANIZATION ECTS YEAR: 1º Semester: 2º Department: Humanity and Social Sciences mj.berlanga@ucv.es Nº ECTS: 6 Duration and temporal location within the curriculum: The subject is developed in the second quarter of the first year of the degree, to students of Social Education and Social Work. This course is studied at first year. For knowledge of the main theories of society itʼs fundamental for a better understanding of the functioning of society, increasing the capacity and critical understanding of students about their environment and consequently enrich their learning for Social Education and Social Work. 3 3 GENERAL GOALS With this subject, it is intended that the student of Social Education and Social Work achieve a greater understanding of the inherent social issues of society, and be able to:. Knowing the major theoretical debates about society. To apply such knowledge to the analysis of contemporary society. Enhance their critical and analytical ability in their future professional practice CROSS-SECTIONAL COMPETENCES Competence measuring scale CT1.Maintain a continuous learning attitude that facilates adaptation to changes, orientation towards achievement and results, improving techniques and communication skills, for the benefit and development of people, families, groups and organizations CT2. Organize actions after diagnosis and analysis of the situations that require the practice of social work and explain about decision making to solve problems. CT3.Responding to different problems, through their own capacity and acting, specially in teamwork, and though the necessary skills for interdisciplinary action CT4. Maintain an ethical commitment in social work practice in front of the social and cultural realities that demand actions aimed at integral and united human development, and the exercise of dignity and human rights x BASIC AND GENERAL COMPETENCES CB2. That students will make use of their knowledge to their vocation or work in a professional way and posed the competences through elaboration and defence of arguments and solving problems in this study field. CB3. That students will have the capacity to meet and interpret relevant data (in their field area) to give opinions including a reflexion on relevant social, scientific or ethic topics.
4 4 Course guide CG1. Ability to plan, implement, review and evaluate the practice of Social Work with people, families, groups, organizations, communities and other professionals. CG2. Ability to support people able to speak about their needs, circumstances or points of view. CG3. Ability to act solving risk situations with people, but also their own problems and colleagues ones. CG4. Ability to manage and supervise with responsibility and practice support into the organization. CG5. Ability to show professional competences in the social work exercise. SPECIFIC COMPETENCES CE1. To answer in face of crisis situations preparing plans and projects adapted to the urgency of the situation. CE2. To use social work methods and models in the intervention with families, groups, organizations and communities to improve their life conditions. CE3. To manage and moderate discussion groups, encouraging families, groups, organizations and communities to defend their own interests. CE4. To identify and define risk situations to adapt resolution situations. CE5. Contribute actively to improvement of social work practices, in relation to the entities and policies that promote their development and their different actios CE6. To manage resources and services giving priority according to needs, supervising their efficacy and assuring quality.
