July 12, 2017 DSLCC participates in VIP-PASS because we see a direct connection between the mission of VIP-PASS and our strategic plan goals set forth in the DSLCC Strategic Plan: Improve student success Increate retention Increase graduation rates The full text of the DSLCC Strategic Plan is placed prominently on our Web site: >> About >> DSLCC Strategic Plan and drives the goals of all DSLCC units and areas. Many of the Academic Affairs assessment goals speak directly to the need for improving student success, retention and graduation rates: Increase number of regular (non-dual enrollment) students entering the transfer programs and OT programs, Increase retention of current students. DSLCC Student Services has identified similar assessment goals: Increase combined total of fall and spring unduplicated dual enrollment, Increase first-time full-time and part-time student fall-to-spring retention, Expand the use of the new Writing Center, Maximize the use of the electronic early alert system. We believe that VIP-PASS initiatives that provide for improved onboarding, clearer academic pathways, improved career counseling for our programs and more intrusive advising methods will help achieve the goals set by Academic Affairs and Student Services units as well as the overall strategic goals of the college.
