3 Using the CPS Over The World Wide Web Starting Internet Explorer Logon Open your browser. Access the Certification Pathway System Web Page by entering the following URL on the Internet Explorer Address line. NOTE: You can access the Certification Pathway System from any point on the Internet, from school, home or any wireless hot spot. The Certification Pathway System (CPS) will track your progress using the Internet no matter where your are. 10 Initial Course Enrollment Course Enrollment The first time you logon and click on My Pathway you will see the screen at right. You must enroll in the Benchmark or Mentor*. Click on Course Catalog to go to the Catalog containing the Benchmark and Mentor to enroll. * NOTE: Click Course Catalog or Catalog to enroll in the Benchmark or Mentor. Some students will be pre-enrolled in the Benchmark and/or Mentor by their teacher or class administrator. 10 August 2005 Benchmark/Mentor Student Guide Page 10
11 Course Catalog Screen Course Enrollment The Catalog screen shows the various courses you can enroll in. To enroll in a Benchmark course, click on Internet and Computing Benchmark. To enroll in a Mentor course, click on Internet and Computing Mentor. Click Internet and Computing Benchmark or Internet and Computing Mentor to add that Module to your Pathway. 10 August 2005 Benchmark/Mentor Student Guide Page 11
12 Course Catalog Screen # 2 Course Enrollment This is the Benchmark Catalog screen - there are 3 different IC 3 modules available to enroll in. To enroll in a Benchmark course, click Enroll beside the module you would like to add to your pathway. 13 Initial Course Launch Page Course Enrollment When you first enroll in a course, it is immediately launched. You can return to the My Pathway - Catalog screen to enroll in further courses. 14 Student s IC 3 My Pathway Page Course Enrollment Click on Enter below the course you want to use. To enroll in further courses, repeat the enrollment process by clicking Catalog again. 15 Definition of the Sections of the IC 3 Syllabus Definition of the Sections of the IC 3 Syllabus The IC 3 specification defines the sections of the syllabus and the topics covered in a four level structure: Modules, Domains within Modules, Objectives within Domains, Topics/Skill-sets within Objectives. For each Skill-set in the IC 3 Syllabus, there is a corresponding question in the Benchmark and Mentor Assessment. There are a total of 221 questions in the syllabus; 61 in Computing Fundamentals, 87 in Key Applications and 73 in Living Online. 10 August 2005 Benchmark/Mentor Student Guide Page 15

Click on the title of the Domain you want to enter. Progress reports can be accessed at any stage using the Progress Report button. Click on the Objective that you want to enter to see a list of skill-sets (questions) within it. Click on Key Applications Mentor to move back up to the Module level and choose another Domain. Click Play beside a Skillset you would like to begin. Progress Report Button Complete description of the level the student is on: Module, Domain, Objective. The titles above your current level can be used to navigate back up one or more levels. Click Play to launch a specific skill-set question. 32 Progress Reports Progress Reports You may view a report of your progress at any time. To view the reports, click Progress Report on the left of the screen. 33 Progress Reports - Benchmark Progress Reports The Benchmark reports give you an overview of how you are doing. Benchmark reports are at the Domain level of the IC 3 syllabus. Return to the course by clicking Back To Training. Reports may be saved to your computer by clicking Save. The Progress Bar gives you a quick overview of your overall progress.. Click Back to Training to return to the main course menu. For each Domain you are given the Score, number of Attempts and the Time used. Choose the report you wish to view from the Select a report drop down list. Return to the menu by clicking Back To Training. Click Back to Training to return to the main course menu. 35 Progress Reports - Mentor Progress Reports Basic Report - Level 1 is the same as the Benchmark report. It gives an overview of your performance, at the Domain level. You can select another report using the drop down list. Return to the menu by clicking Back To Training. Click Back to Training to return to the main course menu. It shows performance at the Skill-set level, and also reports on whether or not you used the various levels of assist. You can select another report using the drop down list.
