1 La experiencia de tu vida Adquiere la cultura con experiencias (ACE) You have been given the opportunity of a life time. You receive an all expense trip to study abroad from the group ACE. They want you to promote Hispano-America. To accomplish this, they want you to learn about your country. You can only achieve this through experiences. Thus, the trip abroad. Expectations: experience your country s culture through the following: experience activities, keep a journal (ACE sheets), provide evidence, and finally promote the country. While you are visiting your chosen country, you have lots of opportunities to experience the culture. You will select a variety of activities to do. You will write about them in your journal. Also, you will provide evidence that you did them (pictures, audio and video recording, performing in front of the class, etc.). Lastly, you will report back about your trip. You might discuss what you did, what you learned about the country, promote the country, provide evidence that you did the activities. ****An important part of learning a foreign language involves learning about the people who speak the language, their culture, their history, and their pastimes. Not all of this can occur in the classroom. The purpose of active cultural experiences is to give foreign language students individual opportunities to connect the language and culture outside of the classroom. This program encourages students to visit museums, missions and other historical sites. They need to find opportunities to communicate with native speakers of the language in stores, classes, museums and pen pal letters. Students may try a new experience in seeing live performances, watching movies in the language, making a craft object, copying a famous work of art or preparing an authentic meal. They include information and artifacts from other countries. We know that students will do incredibly impressive work as they put together their projects. Guidelines for active cultural experiences Organize your folder in this order : Table of contents A-C-E Sheet (your journal) Evidence of project A-C-E Sheet (your journal) Evidence of project A-C-E Sheet(your journal) Evidence of project Day of Final: promote your country by letting us know about the country, history, events, experiences, and provide some evidence, en español. *Only neat work will be evaluated. *Computer or handwritten work must be in blue or black ink. *All sources must be listed! (bibliography) *Only work in Spanish will be evaluated. *Don t forget evidence. Requirements: *Each student must strive to earn: 50 ACE points total. *All activities must revolve around the country you have chosen. *promote your country on the day of your final presentation. What is evidence? *A scrapbook, an art or craft project, a montage, a storyboard, a video, a presentation, required form or be creative!(reports and summaries are not the best evidence) *Every project should include an ACE sheet. Any project without an ACE sheet will not be accepted. Reminders:

Your work should reflect your own ideas, interest and talents. *Your project should only be from the country you have chosen. *Use language that is appropriate to your level. Do not seek help from online translators. Consider those that would best use your talents and expand your horizons. This is designed to be a fun way to practice what you are learning and get credit at the same time. Be careful not to choose more than one activity from any given category. These activities are to be centered around the cultures of YOUR COUNTRY THAT YOU SELECTED. MAXIMUM POINTS ALLOWABLE A. Other Ideas There are many other ways to practice you Spanish and to learn more about the Hispanic culture. Search them out and present them to your teacher for approval before you begin.
