3 Economics Project Buying a Used Car Student name: Driving Question: How do you buy a used car? Project: 1. Research the process of buying a used car. Consider: Choosing between wants and needs. How do people decide what kind of vehicle to purchase? What influences this decision? Paying for the car. Is it better to save up money and pay all at once, or take out a loan and make monthly payments? Who to buy from. How to make sure you don t get ripped off. How the government is involved in this process (getting a car title, paying tax on the car purchase, getting tabs, insurance, etc.) Etc. What would you do if you were to buy a used car? 2. After doing research, conduct an interview with someone involved with used car sales. Before the interview, create 8 or more questions for the interview. Use the interview answers as part of your research. 3. Keep a research log (where you keep research details and sources). Keep a learning log (keeping track of time spent on the project). Complete a final reflection at the end of your project. 4. Write a publishable essay (7-10 paragraphs) describing what you learned. Include the requirements listed above. 5. Plan, create, and publicly present a detailed presentation (Powerpoint, poster, moviemaker, etc.) that displays what you learned in your research. Include information from your essay. Present this information with your intended audience in mind. HOME SCIENCE Visit any one place (home/restaurant/school/business centre) and observe its measure for general conditions of hygiene.
