1 Introduction icue Tests & Assessments: Teacher s Guide September, 2007 Welcome to the Teacher s Guide to using icue Tests & Assessments In this guide, you will learn how to: Login and navigate the icue Test & Assessments environment Access and manipulate One-Click Reports Investigate student history for any student in a report with Student Link Create reports on a single student Create reports on a single test Create custom reports Change the as of date to reflect enrollment at different time points 1
2 Navigation and Logging In Login to Tests & Assessments using your TSIS login. You can access this login screen 2 different ways: If your district is set up with a portal, you can use the Tests & Assessments link in the TIES Application Launcher You can go directly to this website: 2
3 Navigation and Logging In If you have access to multiple schools, you are taken to this screen after logging in. If not, you will be taken directly to the screen on the following page. If you decide to change schools after passing this page, simply mouse over Tools on the blue menu bar at the top of the page, and select Change School. 3
4 Navigation and Logging In This is the Home page for icue Tests & Assessments. Notice the blue menu bar at the top of the page. The home page also contains the list of One-Click reports that have been set up for your school. To return to the home page from wherever you are, simply click on Tests & Assessments in the blue menu bar. If your school is a scheduling school, then you will have a list of classes to choose from in the drop down menu. Choose the class with the students who s scores you would like to see, and click on the name of the desired report. If your school is not a scheduling school, all reports will reflect the students in your homeroom. 4
5 Accessing and Manipulating One-Click Reports Clicking on one of the One-Click report buttons will bring you directly to the corresponding pre-designed custom report. This example provides longitudinal performance on the Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) in Math. By default, the report will display the entire class, sorted by student name. You are also provided a set of filters, including gender, as well as all of the No Child Left Behind subgroups. To filter your report, select the filters you would like, and click on the Generate Results button. Users of NWEA assessments: Note that this report includes the actual growth from the previous school year, as well as the growth goal for each individual student. This allows for quick comparison, to establish the level at which students are meeting individual growth goals. If your school uses NWEA assessments, this information can be created and added to your One-Click report. 5
6 Accessing and Manipulating One-Click Reports To sort this report, simply click on the column header for the column you would like to sort by. Clicking the first time will sort results from lowest to highest, with blank cells appearing at the top. Clicking a second time will sort results from highest to lowest. By clicking on the column header, you also generate a summary report for that column, at the bottom of the page. Another option for generating a summary report is to select the score you d like to summarize using the Summary Score drop down menu. 6
7 Accessing and Manipulating One-Click Reports Scroll down to find the summary report. If no column has been selected, the report defaults to summarize the first column of test data. Otherwise, the report will summarize the column that has been selected. You can select either by clicking on the column header (which also sorts your data), or by using the Summary Score drop down menu at the top of the page. The specific score being summarized, as well as the students included in the summary, are provided directly above the summary table. Number of students is the total number of students in the report. Subtract the number in the No score column to find the number of students in the report who have scores. Average gives the mean value for all students with scores, while High and Low provide the range of scores. Summary data is provided for each No Child Left Behind subgroup, as will as for students designated Gifted & Talented (G/T). You may select Show Gender Summary to further break down each category according to gender. Also, note the options to provide results and/or summaries as printable or as tabdelimited files. It may also be possible to simply highlight text within your browser window, and paste into spreadsheet and word processing software, such as MS Excel and MS Word although you may run into some formatting issues with this approach. 7
8 Student Link You can quickly access more detailed information about a specific student, from any report. Simply click on the small index card next to a student s name to get more information on the student. 8
9 Student Link After clicking on the individual student s index card, you may or may not be taken to this report, depending on parameters set in your district. If you are not immediately taken to the Test History report, click on Test History in the blue menu bar at the top of the page. Note the other options available for accessing information about this student. The options available will depend on the specific features enabled for your school or district. The Test History report provides a list of all test data available for the student. This report defaults to sort by test date, starting with the most recent. All column headers can be clicked, to sort the report by that column. In addition, tests that are accompanied by available strand data are clickable links in this report. Click on the name of the test to see the student s strand performance on that test. 9
10 Student Link This is the strand report for the test selected. Overall data appear above the table, and are labeled Score 1, Score 2, and Score 3. The table then provides scores on the individual strands of the test. 10
11 Other Report Options In addition to One-Click reports, there are other options to see data for an individual student, a single test for a group of students, and to generate your own custom reports. From any screen, mouse over Tests & Assessments, then mouse over Test Scores, and select from the menu that appears. 11
12 Other Report Options Single Student Clicking on Individual Student takes you to this screen. Select a student from the drop down menu. This menu will contain all students in your class. You can limit the number of students in this menu by using one of the filters above the student list, and selecting New Student List. You can select a different class using the drop down menu near the top of the page, and clicking on Select Class. 12

15 Other Report Options Single Test Choosing Single Test will take you to the screen shown at the bottom of the above slide. This screen allows you to view all available scores for a single test, see the following pages for more information on how to use this screen. 15
16 Other Report Options Single Test Select your test from the drop down menu. Note that the drop down menu will only include tests for the year entered in Test Year. 16
17 Other Report Options Single Test Below is the report of all currently enrolled students performance on the test selected. You may use the available filters to reduce the size of this report. Also, click on Summary to view a summary report of this test. 17
18 Other Report Options Custom Reports Clicking on Custom Report will take you to the screen shown at the bottom of the above slide. This screen will allow you to select a custom set of test results to view, see the following pages for more information on how to use this screen. 18
19 Other Report Options Custom Reports The list below Tests/Strands provides available tests to select for your custom report. You can filter by Tests Subjects, Test Kinds, and Within the last years to limit the number of tests and strands in this list. (Using the Grade Levels filter is not recommended, except by users experienced with the setup of their school s Test Definitions in GS251) Choose the desired filters, and click Filter Tests, to update the available list of tests and strands. Note that multiple Tests and Strands can be selected for your custom report. On a PC, hold the Control key while selecting. On a Mac, hold the Apple key while selecting. Select the desired Tests and Strands from the list provided you may need to use the scroll bar to see the complete list. Then click on Select Scores to choose from specific scores within each test and strand (i.e., scaled scores, percentiles, etc.). Or click directly on See Results to choose all scores for each test and strand selected. 19
20 Other Report Options Custom Reports Clicking on Select Scores from the previous screen will take you to this screen. Choose the desired scores by clicking on the checkboxes next to each score. Then click Next. 20
21 Other Report Options Custom Reports Choose any filters for your custom report on this screen. These filters are the same as those shown earlier, in the One-Click reports. You may select a class, and you may select any of the filters for gender and the No Child Left Behind subgroups. Choose your desired filters using the drop down menus, and click Next. Clicking Next without choosing a filter will provide a report on all students in the class selected. 21
22 Other Report Options Custom Reports Here is an example of a custom report. It is identical to the One-Click Reports in its appearance and available features. 22
23 Changing the As Of Date One final note: All reports default to display data for all students enrolled in your class on the current date. In addition, characteristics of the students (i.e., grade, special education status) will reflect status as of the current date. However, there are times when you may prefer to view data as of a previous date. For example, perhaps you would like to summarize the performance of your class on a specific test, based on the enrollment of the class on the date that test was given, rather than on current enrollment. To do this, you must change the as of date, by selecting Change As of Date at the top of the page. Enter the desired date in mm/dd/yyyy format, and click Change Date. You report will refresh to reflect the date you have selected. Note that the date you have selected will also appear next to As of date: at the top of the page. This will modify your report to reflect the enrollment of your class on the date selected. 23
