6 ML PAPER 1 WRITING E / NA 30% Section A: Writing (20 marks) Candidates write 120 words (E)/ 100 words (NA) on ONE of the following . Informal Formal Section B: Essay Writing (40 marks) Candidates write 240(E) /200(NA) on ONE of the 3 genres: Descriptive Writing Expository Writing Narrative Writing DURATION: 2 HOURS

7 Total marks for EXPRESS is 70 marks / NA is 60 marks for PAPER 2 ML PAPER 2 LANGUAGE E / NA 30% Section A: Affixes- identify 5 correct affixes to be used based on the text given (10 marks) Proverbs- fill in the blanks with 5 correct proverbs based on the text given (10 marks for E / 5 marks for NA) Cloze Passage- fill in the blanks with 5 suitable words based on text given (10 marks for E / 5 marks for NA) Section B: Comprehension MCQ - 5 questions (10 marks) Section C: Open-Ended Comprehension 6 questions and vocabulary(give meaning of words )(30 marks) DURATION: 1 HOUR 30 MINUTES

8 ML PAPER 3 ORAL & LISTENING E / NA 40% Oral Section A: Reading Aloud (10 marks for E / 20 marks for NA) Candidates to read aloud the reading passage shown on the laptop screen. Section B: Conversation Based on Video (40 marks) Candidates to watch a 1-minute video then answer 3 questions verbally based on the theme of the video. Total marks for Oral Express is 50 marks / NA is 60 marks Listening Comprehension (20 marks) Candidates are to listen to authentic texts then answer MCQ questions. DURATION : 40 MINS

9 ML PAPER 1 LANGUAGE NT 30% Section A: Cloze MCQ (10 marks) Poster, Brochure, Advertisement, Article Section B: Comprehension MCQ and Open-Ended (20 marks) Poster, Brochure, Advertisement, Article Total marks for Paper 1 is 30 marks. DURATION: 50 MINUTES

17 WHAT STUDENTS SHOULD DO TO IMPROVE ON THEIR MALAY LANGUAGE & ROLE OF PARENTS IN INSTILLING THE LOVE OF THE LANGUAGE. Instil a culture of speaking the language at home, at least ONE of parent must converse to the child in Malay. Instil a culture of reading and a love for reading habit especially in Malay books at home. - improve in their writing. Interact with your child on current affairs, especially watching the Malay news/documentary/newspaper to heighten his/her awareness of what is happening in Singapore and the world around him/her to learnt to speak the language confidently and effectively especially during Oral Examination. Watch Malay Drama / Movies to broaden their plot in writing descriptive and narrative writing. HS/MALAY UNIT

18 LIST OF PROVERBS List of 80 proverbs learnt from Sec 1 to 4 (E and NA) given to all students. memorise the meaning of the proverbs. Paper 2 - Section A Qn 2: Students need to fill in the blanks with 5 correct proverbs based on the text given. Bahagian ini mengandungi lima soalan berbentuk mengisi tempat kosong. 19 LITERATURE IN MALAY(ELECTIVE) One of the subjects offered at Sec 3 Express Strong foundation in the Malay Language Provide knowledge to the students about the elements of literature and values To understand and appreciate the value of language, literature and Malay society Through literature and teaching and learning activities carried out, the students are able to think analytically, critically and creatively Increase the capacity for language and build aesthetic sensitivity when reading and reviewing the Malay literary works/text HS/MALAY UNIT

20 Humanities (Social Studies, Literature in Malay) Offered as Humanities Subject in O Level Exam Literature In Malay(Elective) Candidates are to answer TWO questions, one from each section. Section A 25 marks (25%) This section consists of two questions. Candidates are required to choose only one question to answer. Question 1 Novel (Azfa Hanani) Question 2 Modern Prose or Poem (Tekad) Section B 25 marks (25%) This section consists of two questions. Candidates are given two unseen text. Candidates are required to choose only one question to answer. Question 3 Unseen Poem Question 4 Unseen Modern Prose Duration of paper : 1 hour 40 minutes * The overall marks will be shown in Humanities subject HS/MALAY UNIT
